Personally speaking, Frank Gore is my favorite player to join the Niners since Jerry Rice. Sure I've liked other players since Jerry, but Gore is something else. Perhaps it was because he was our first skill position (or any position) pro-bowl player to come through since 2002. Maybe it's that the guy gives 200% on the field every time he's there. Maybe it's because he owned the league in 2006. Maybe it's because he's always striving to get better. Or maybe it's because he's been to hell and back (2 reconstructive knee surgeries before his pro career and the loss of his mother during it) and still keeps fighting. Look, I'm aware that P. Willis is an amazing talent and is considered the best player on our team bar-none. He, like Gore, has faced tremendous adversity and has since fought through it to become the best ILB in the game. I don't deny that and I'm a huge fan of Willis. But Gore was the first player in years to come along and give Niner fans something to cheer about. Who can forget runs like that one against DET in 06 or the one against STL in 07 (lost in the crowd on 3rd and waay long, only to emerge unscathed and sprinting towards pay dirt). Bottomline, this guy came in during our darkest time and hasn't complained one bit. He's what makes our offense tick and humbly performs year in and year out; playing through injuries and all. This thread is nothing more than a tribute to Frank Gore. A truly admirable player who gives it his all year in and year out; through all the coaching changes, adversity and losing seasons. Here's to hoping that an improved passing game and complementary r-back gives Frank the help he so richly deserves to be the deadly player he is. #21

This is Gore's final year on his contract. I think this is really it guys....I'm going to miss Gore like no other.

Maybe we can sign him for 2 more years?!

Truly one of the greats of this era. Workhorse year in and year out and a model of consistency on an elite level. I'm really going to miss watching this guy on Sundays

I love the fact Frank seems to have some competition in Hyde, that's when he's at his best. Over the years that I've watched him, it seems like ever time a RB on our team had a good run, Frank would come back in more determined and rip of a nice run himself.

Yes! Don't forget, with 33 yards he will hit 10,000 on Sunday. I can't wait to watch it. I hope that run comes with a TD.

Excited to see Gore get to 10K yards tomorrow, but what excites me the most about this season is the real possibility of having a fresh Frank Gore come playoffs. Carlos Hyde is just too good and fits perfectly with this team and our offensive philosophy to not cut into FG's workload. I really think these 2 have a great chance at being the very best 1-2 punch in the NFL this season, having Hyde could extend Gore's career in SF another year or 2. I also think we end up activating Lattimore and giving him a little PT this year sometime after week 6 when he's eligible. LMJ also looked vastly improved in picking up the blitz and may finally be used as a true scat back type player.

Congrats to Frank da Tank on his 10K. I really think Hyde having success will only fuel Gore that much more. Gonna be fun to watch the two this season.

congrats to frank he deserves it...great accomplishment and one of the best 9ers in recent years. hope he retires as a niner he still has a couple years left

Frank hasn't gotten nearly enough recognition for all of his accomplishments. This dude IS what it means to be a 49er. He's the greatest back in team history and an all around incredible athlete. Love me some Frankie!

Can we give this guys some love? Our own media guy didn't alert him to his 10,000 yards and as a result, he didn't get that ball. Basically, zero recognition and love from the announcing crew on this historic milestone. Only 29 other RB's in history have reached this mark. This dude is so humble, the ultimate team guy...so much so he didn't even know he broke the record b/c he was so "into the game." Much love Gore!
