I can definitely see a case for that because it would become more like the Deebo offense again where defenses would have pick their poison with their personnel matchups, and you'd end up with mismatches in both the run and pass game.

But Robinson is literally JAG in the pass game, so he doesn't really give opposing defensive coordinators much to worry about when matching personnel.

Why they should look hard at Breece Hall.

The 49ers run game isn't the same as it was a few years ago and it's not because CMC has lost a step. The zone blocking scheme used to open up massive holes. Remember Breida and Mostert turning the corner and having 10 yards of daylight that allowed them to gain huge chunks. Now they have small openings if any. Many times there are 2 or 3 defenders waiting to stuff the run before it can get started.

I don't know if it's the O line personnel or if teams have just caught on to this style of offense but if the holes aren't there the runs aren't going to happen.

Totally agree. I'm not a huge Robinson fan…

There should be mutual disinterest
i liked his game this past season. and with cmc getting so many touches, bringing him back at a low price seems a no brainer

I hope there is, it's great insurance for CMC, another year in the system. I think he'd get more touches next year; CMC will be 30 and is still a great weapon, I just don't trust James or IG, who may get cut.

Usually I would agree... but if he is at the end of his career.. this might be a pretty good gig. Get paid well to practice and get a few plays on Sunday. Might save his life down the road.

Only problem is, if he's needed at an important part of a game in the playoffs. His head wouldn't be all there, and something bad might happen.

You can only mentally "prepare as if you're going to start" for so long.

What a waste of a signing by the FO. Not the first time we have signed/drafted someone talented, and not used them.

Robinson is okay. I wouldn't call him "talented". I'd rather we let him walk.

Yeah, if they're never going to let him into the game what's the point. One of my biggest complaints about Kyle is that ever since CMC arrived, he's just run him into the ground. McCaffery doesn't seem to mind, I guess but he's had 400+ touches in two of the last three years, I think. I mean, if Kyle doesn't trust anyone else to come in for a series or two every game, why are they on the team.

I don't think it is a question of, he doesn't seem to mind. I think he fights like hell against missing snaps.

Agreed. It's also apparent Kyle either loves CMC or doesn't like big power backs. So bring in someone cheap: Keaton Mitchell (who is an absolute blur), Sean Tucker, or Jaleel McGlaughlin.
