They can't explain Newton or Winston because its doesnt fit their narrative. Or how about Watson who signed the largest contract in league history all while having 20+ allegations still pending against him. But but it must be collusion with Shedeur!!!

He sucks at interviews. Its already been said the Giants felt like they were beneath him. If felt like that during an interview no way would i hire that person.
I watched a couple of his press conferences while he was with Colorado and he literally threw his team under the bus in one I watched. It wasnt his fault the team lost. Thats not what you want to hear from the leader of your team. The NFL has proven it doesnt care about more your morals. It only cares if you can play and if you can lead a team if you are a QB. Shedeur failed to communicate that. He's not a bad guy he just isn't viewed as a leader that teams want leading their team. Some players not named Shedeur failed their interviews as well and went undrafted. But at least Shedeur heard his named called and has a chance to be the starter. We'll see how he adjusts now that his dad isn't calling all of the shots.

Who's they? It's stuff like this that makes people question intent. Newton and Winston were both Heismann trophy winners, and they didn't have a Hall of Fame father shaking the tree. The Panthers at the time were desperate and had no other choice. Locker, Ponder and Gabbert were the other options.

Fair enough it was Winston or Mariota, but I think we know enough about Winston to acknowledge that although he's an utter weirdo he's completely genuine and likeable, that doesn't strike me as someone who needs to be taught a lesson.

If Shedeur was head and shoulders above Cam Ward, he'd probably still have gone #1. I've acknowledged that talent has played into this, I said before the draft and the slide that he's likely to fall for lack of traits and with the talent not matching his bluster.

But the slide I predicted was to about where Dart went. I can easily see that argument and with everything considered MAYBE you go for Shough over him, but I highly doubt it which and then Gabriel was the final nail for me to believe that there was more to it than talent, interviews or Deion. If you choose not to believe it that's fine.

Watch Jackson Dart's interview after the Nebraska game, it's was exactly the same. Zach Wilson as well, that's more of a generational thing I believe. Granted it's not a good look, but The Giants brought up that about Sheduer, yet traded up for Dart.

The NFL haven't proven sh*t, they will do whatever they feel like, they are the same with disciplinary matters, if there's no video you get a game or two. If the video is bad you might never play again.
Say we had a crystal ball and we knew Shadeur was going to be a QB3 talent. Hes going to be Josh Dobbs 2.0 on the field. Do you think he would make for a good QB3 on a team? Given the exact same skill sets, is coach going to vouch for Shadeur or Dobbs?
Another nepo baby got schooled. He will get ruined on the Browns now.

Arch Manning should take note. You still gotta ace your interviews and stay humble.

People like you, Mel Kiper, and other media pundits who can't accept the fact that Shedeur tanked his own stock by the way he acts. No it couln't be him, he's legendary the NFL must have colluded!!!

Deion has coached his son at every level, and there has been talk of him wanting to continue doing this at the NFL level. Whether that is realistic or not, he will certainly be able to get access to a mike, and it seems probable he'll be chirping at the team that has Shedeur on how he's being used. That is a distraction that no team needs, and nobody wanted to volunteer for. It finally took the team that is the absolute stupidest when it comes to quarterbacks to do it, with some reports that it took ownership influence to get it done, with grim faces in their war room. I don't see how race comes into this.

This is a great point, hopefully Deion understands that he might be hurting his sons career doing that but you know everyone will be asking him about his son

the collusion aspect is so pathetic to believe it. take kellen moore. he has worked his entire life to be where he is now. first time nfl head coach. he's the son of a coach. he may last 10 games, or 10 seasons. it's all about winning games on the field. the collusion bs would have you believe that he decided sticking it to another man's son is more important than his own city, team and career. it's garbage. what happened in reality is the saints trusted their process, and they took the guy they feel gives them the best chance to win. i have no idea if they chose the right QB. bill walsh one time looked at gio carmazzi and tom brady and took gio. that's what makes the nfl interesting. i'm into the real drama, of these coaches trying to build a program and trying to win. not the fake drama of fan fiction conspiracy theory.

I don't watch ESPN, but I heard about Kiper, i sympathise. At least he was honest. NFL had DJ's available rankings up with Shedeur at 20. DJ and the others were very diplomatic about it. Only Rich Risen was calling it out.

I'm sorry but there becomes a point where the value is too good and we reached that before Shedeur went. Eagles took Hurts in the 2nd even with Wentz off an MVP caliber season. They called him an asset they thought would appreciate in value. I'm very surprised the Rams didn't do it. Even Deion couldn't argue with Stafford and you groom the kid behind him. Or the Eagles themselves, get a backup and then flip him for more than you paid.

No one outside his family thinks he's legendary, but the lowest I've heard him graded was a 2nd rounder, that's going by talent. I had him as a 2nd round grade, but after the QB tax, that's mid to late first. I completely understand that interviews and noise can drop you down, but 3-4 rounds? Come on, kickers and punters usually go before then, and you're telling me no one would to take s**t?

It's never happened to a QB before, it's also the first time Nepotism has worked against someone in the league. You hear coaches talk about NFL blood lines all the time, "he's been around football", "he knows how to be a pro" all of sudden it's a negative for this kid.

I don't like what I've heard out of the kid, and Deion hasn't helped him, he probably did deserve this to happen, does that make it right? Maybe
He was clearly worth more than a 5th round pick, however, it is clear his rep, and his dad's, are not what the NFL wants as the face of the franchise.

Personally, it would have sent a better message had he been a 3rd round pick. That would have avoided the "collusion' (which I think is nonsense) talk, while still sending a message about attitude.

As it is now, we have room for a different narrative that doesn't address the fact he and his dad stepped on themselves and are now paying the price. However, the league is still a copy-cat league and once a player starts to drop, it is a free-fall.

i don't think it's clear he was worth more than a 5th. he was worth what ppl were willing to pay. this is not a big qb, or a strong armed QB, or an athletic QB. i hear him described as a 6'1 pocket passer who just puts it on guys. this is a league where brock went pick 262. there were only like 5 or so teams in on a QB in the draft. teams liked other QBs. if i am drafting in this draft, give me milroe at qb. if there is any unique element to the sanders saga, it's deion is a master of hype, and he hyped his son into being a top pick and kiper and that crowd bought it, but nfl teams do their own due diligence. no nfl team listens to mel kiper about anything. i think it's kinda wrong to be saying he needs special treatment or picked in a certain round, or else it sends a bad 'message'. i don't feel that way at all. let him enter the draft, and let teams decide what he's worth. that's what happened. now he gets to go play and prove ppl right or wrong.

I respect you DJ, and that's a good post, but how does the league send a message, without being unified on the message to send? The owners meeting wasn't long ago, they spoke about banning the Tush push, getting rid of chain measurements and changing overtime rules and you think it's nonsense that no one said "What shall we do about this cocky little pr*ck and his loud mouth dad?"

So you're spouting all of this versus people who have actually watched the kid, and others who do this for living! Unbelievable
