How does a report get out to the media that he's being released while the team is trying to trade him? Is that his agent being a rat?

7th overall PRWR among all DTs. He was very similar to Hardgrave, couldn't stop the run consistently enough.

More than likely, better for him to be a FA. I could see a swap of a late rd pick or something

Yes, usually.

You can tell because both Maiocco and JLC posted the same "they could trade him" update (presumably on the same group text with a Niners FO member) as soon as that report came out.

You can say this is just the agent trying to do what's best for his client - and that's true. But it also deters teams from signing his mid-level clients.
I thought Elliott was a goner, and even Gross-Matos. I think Collins was the most consistent guy, along with Bosa. Everyone else would one or two games and then disappear. Feels like Saleh is going to replace quite a few people and start over.
This is to make room for an upgrade at defensive tackle like Allen hopefully. and if we add Bosa, we will be back in business

Most definitely an upgrade that leaves us more wiggle room in the draft.

Now Joey Bosa can get his old number back.

I may be in the minority but I'm not a fan of this move. I thought Collins could still be a valuable piece on the D-Line next season. I guess they have other ideas in mind. Maybe Robert Saleh wanted something different.

They thought Hargrave was an upgrade. Same for Collins. Be careful what you wish for.

I think we have to take in a full offseason's worth of moves before we know if it's good or not. They certainly are not going into week 1 with this DT rotation. More to come.

But Collins didn't cost what Hargrave did nor did they have to give up high picks for him.
