If anything Trey Lance has been the bigger…much bigger disappointment.

How does anything you wrote address my point that all those bad coaches will have taught Sam bad habits that Kyle will have to help him fix.

Darnold has been crap. Can Kyle turn him around? Maybe. Will he turn him around by week 1? Highly unlikely.

if the 9ers signed Blaine Gabbert again you'd want him to play over Trey. I get it.

I don't think that's an unrealistic possibility. My caution would be that the limited evidence we've seen doesn't actually support an argument that he is a better player than the Darnold we've seen. Darnold's been a below average starting quarterback through his time in the league. Lance hasn't shown anything beyond that.

The difference is you want Trey moved and want to hand the starting spot to Darnold Week 1. You aren't even open to giving Trey a chance based on 4 games. I've seen Darnold for 50. He hasn't been better than Trey. Can he be? Possibly but unlikely based on Trey having more time.in the system and not having as many bad habits.

Where did I say he would light world on fire? You are the one that wants Lance traded and have Darnold start week 1 if Brock can't go not me.

I have zero faith Darnold will be anything more than he is right now week 1. Maybe later in season and into next season he can be. But I'm not gonna pretend 50 games with other teams didn't happen.

But the original post I replied to you stated bad experience doesn't give you a leg up. I'm just saying Darnold hasn't been all bad.

And with that said, I've got more faith in someone whose played in 50 games than someone whose played on 4 games in three seasons and coming off of a major injury.
