The 49ers won't trade him for a few reasons, some listed below:

a) Green Bay isn't going to offer anything substantial for Sam, because regardless of how good he looks in 49ers' camp, he has not looked consistently good in NFL games

b) Purdy is coming off a major injury, and no one has any idea how his future will pan out, especially given his very small NFL sample size

c) Lance has not shown he has the consistent ability to be the anchor at QB for an NFL team, especially one with a Super Bowl winning caliber roster

SF won't trade him and GB wouldn't trade for him. If GB wanted him, March as a FA would have been the time. I doubt GB kicked Aaron Rodgers out of town, who was under contract, cuz they wanted to kick tires on Darnold. They want to see if Love is their QB1 of the future. If anything GB may be in the market for a backup QB, you don't need to trade to get one of those. Guys like Bridgewater, Wentz, Foles, just hanging around waiting on a call.

This is why I keep saying I'd trade darnold for a decent pick if Lance beats him out. We see screwed if Brock & Lance are down for the year anyways. I don't see any difference in playing darnold vs Allen. Might as well get something out of it.

hahaha watch darnold just becomes amazing

Oh I read it, you're contradicting yourself with the 3rd point.

In saying Lance hasn't proven he can anchor an NFL team you're in essence saying 49ers don't want to gamble with an unknown as a backup, yet Darnold is even more of an unknown because he's got way more starts proving he's not consistent.

Basically if Trey and Sam cannot be counted on being consistent QBs for us, then why keep both if you can trade one and get something for him?

You were good with the first 2 points. The 3rd one didn't make sense especially after your first one.

That's all you got for Sammy? Give us some number projections. What are you liking about his game? Why camp out in the Lance thread when this is our true starter when the season begins?

You gotta do some gymnastics to get to a point where Darnold with 55 starts is more of an unknown than TL

Football isn't MLB, you aren't just out there on the mound by yourself, throwing to hitters. You are gonna do as well as your line and skill guys, and playcaller, allow. Darnold will play good football here. I don't think there's a question about it. Like Sam says, guys are open. Hard to fail, when guys are open, and the pass rush is walled off.
