QB Sam Darnold is a Viking

Regardless, I don't think there's a realistic scenario where we win the Super Bowl with either Lance or Darnold QBing for extended periods of time next season. Brock has to be healthy and playing at least close to where he was last year.

Not if you all you are looking for his a guy who won't lose you games. If it's just upside it's a different discussion.

For strictly a #2 QB who can get you wins with your starter down Baker is the better choice.

Couldn't disagree more. Baker is not a reliable player in pretty much any facet of his game.

That's not to say Darnold is going to be successful in a game management role here. He just might be a better option than an extremely inexperienced player in Lance.

I'm not counting on a Darnold renaissance here. But for less than 5 million guaranteed, and given he looked alright at times last year, he might at least be a competent fill in.

I couldn't disagree more. Best case scenario is Darnold never sees the field and all his bad habits can be worked around in time in practice with Griese.

I'm no Baker fan but he can absolutely play a game manager role. Smart dude who can be accurate. Just needed an ego check that he's hopefully gotten now. 2020 Baker can win a lot of games filling in.

Not an argument worth having. The team made their decision.

I agree that the best case scenario is Darnold never seeing the field. The best case scenario is Purdy playing every meaningful down for this team.

Yeah I don't agree at all. I think baker is a joke. I don't think he's a great locker room guy either. I feel like He would just pout all year that he isn't the starter - that isn't a healthy QB room.

i just wouldn't want us to sign baker in general. I think Darnold is a great QB3 and a great fit for our program if he has to play a few games.

like you guys said above, I prefer that darnold never sees the field. Haha probably not a great thing if he is out there

Starting to think Yosemite Sam might have been a better signing, lol. Has there ever been a great QB or even player named Sam that was any good?

His grand father, Dick Hammer, was a Marlboro man. Hahaha

If Trey can't beat Sam out all it means to me is we desperately need Brock healthy.

Different QB's work out differently in different systems.
You guys are arguing over the same dude pretty much. There both somewhere between 7-10 or 10-7 if they had to start every game on this team. Baker had the worse ego prior to moving teams.

There like marginally different at most.

I thought the numbers would be a lot worse than they are.

I keep saying it, Lance didn't play well. Lol like at all.

so for everyone saying darnold is trash and all that, it isn't like Lance has played better than him. I really don't know what the hell people watched when Trey started. They just act like His couple nice plays was the norm and not ridiculously rare. Very inept offensive production, specifically accuracy, first downs, and scoring… yards are worthless if you're not doing those three well.

this is why I say that if Brock is lost for the season, we are screwed regardless. Lol

Are you worried that some people only follow one QB thread, and may miss one of Jack hammers tweets unless you post it in all of them? You sir are the embodiment of why the mods should just merge all QB threads into one, lol. But until they do, keep fighting that battle!

Duuuh, how could I forget Sam Mills, he was a great player 👍 Baugh was before my time and Madison is definitely the greatest beer goggle champion of all time
Darnold had a big upturn in his play last season, albeit with limited starts. I'm interested to know whether this was just a blip or if he has genuinely turned a corner.

His interception rate was under half his career average. His Yards per Attempt were 26% higher than career.

He had a QB rating of 92.6 (as per wiki). I think he didn't qualify for the QB leaders table because of lack of snaps, but if you insert him he is at #15 beneath Justin Herbert and displacing Trevor Lawrence.

Just looking at stats, he seems to have been playing at a very high level last season. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this.
