When I pm the mods, no one replies back.. so once in a while, i need to use this.

It is tiresome to anyone trying to follow a thread only to see it go off track frequently.

As to your complaint about mods not responding to PMs, I'm not buying it. If you want a response from the staff, address your inquiry to the mod team, not a specific mod. When such a response comes up, you will get an answer. Sometimes it may require some research but it is never ignored.

I hope this helps.

so that you know, I just PMd you a few minutes ago.. and as far as sending questions as to why I was placed on a TO, yes, I always include all the MODS.. it's funny how Phoenix would not Reply to All tho..

He would just reply to me alone w/his usual wise crack waiting for me to out-smart him so that he'll get another reason to prolong my TO..

Look at him, he wont even engage here.

That was the one advantage with Fangio, he's probably done with being a head coach. Wilks got a raw deal when he was ARI's head coach having to work with rookie Josh Rosen. Players seem to like playing for Wilks and if he does well as the 49er DC, I can see him getting consideration for another HC gig.

I would rather draft a rookie because we have people to pay. For a QB3 I always want a young guy

Unfortunately, we need someone ready to step in at a moments notice and we don't know how Brock is going to recover

I doubt Darnold is taking a QB3 contract when he would definitely be someone's QB2 and may even find a spot where he at least might feel like he's competing for QB1.

With the uncertainty of Purdy's recovery and Trey Lances career so far its pretty safe to say Darnold Might be a #2 or even #1 guy in SF atleast for this year and if he plays well he may be around longer. Also depends what was his relationship with DC Wilks was it good bad? I Know Wilks was on D Side not the O Side but he might whisper in Lynches ear that Darnold is a good fit or poor fit.

In Lynch's interview from the Combine, he said Wilks had ideas that the team liked. I wonder what he has in store. My guess is that we see an increase in zone blitzes. I'm good with that. With two excellent coverage LBs, it makes sense to lean on them when dialing up pressure packages. Since they cover so much ground (Warner/Greenlaw), put the pressure on them to cover a lot of ground.

He's definitely got big shoes to fill since we were the #1 defense. I know he will be called to be fired by many during game days.
He likes to play a lot of single high safety. I dont' think we have a guy capable of that full time on the roster. Safety will be a need for this defense

It will be very interesting to see if this changes for Wilks as a 49er. The league has already shifted towards more two high shells and the 49ers followed this trend in 2022.

True. Maybe that's something that Wilks plans on using more than he previously has. If he's willing to work with the wide 9 then i would imagine he's open to all concepts.

I've always been a proponent of changing up the gameplan to fit the opposing offense. Core principles stay in place, but some weeks blitz more, some weeks man up on 3rd down more often, some weeks play more single high, some weeks play more two high. Do what best combats the opposing QB/offense. Saleh started to do this before he left, Ryans did this. Can't be predictable coming into the week.

Given that fire zone blitzing is one of WIlks' fortes. I'd imagine he'd love to have Ebukam back giving him more options to rush the passer or drop into coverage.

Athletic LBs/DEs definitely help disguise who is rushing and who is dropping - Ebukam is that. Drake also has some dropback experience from college. No idea if he was good at it.

I really do hope they bring back Ebukam. He's such a versatile piece for a guy like Wilks. He's a bit of a rare athlete if you consider how stout he is in a 4-man front despite being relatively smallish. He essentially gives us the best aspects of both the traditional 4-3 end with his stout run defense coupled with the athleticism of the traditional 3-4 OLB.

I hope Wilks pounds the table for him.
