It's even worse. Nevada was a primarily read-option offense. You might as well compare Trey Lance to Lebron James.

Two totally different players and two totally different play styles. Lance is from a pro-style system and Lance is a pass-first pocket QB who can move. Lance is actually elusive and slippery. Lance has power. Lance is comfortable in his own skin. He's mature and well-spoken. Kyle called him a CEO and if you listen to his pressers you can see why. The guy says all the right things. He's a politician.

If you want to compare Lance to Russ, we can talk. But my boy is nothing like Kap.

Yeah the whole Simms helped Kyle with smokescreens is clearly not true...he's a baby and very annoying. His evaluation of players is like a 10 yr old telling you why they like their favorite players.

Kap was deliberate and strong as a runner. Both have strong arms and are dangerous in the open field as runners, but that's where the similarities stop.

disagree completely.

when I saw a video comparing Fields and Lance, Fields was far twitchier as a runner, and I said out loud, Lances running is more like Kap.

lance tried to run over dudes barely better than high school dudes. He doesn't possess explosive lateral ability.

I will edit to say I wanted Fields and will judge shanahan harshly in both the pick and the trade if this fails. Hope I'm wrong.

Agreed. I wouldn't call Lance twitchy. More just straight down hill than making moves and alluding defenders. just trucking dudes. I don't think Fields is that twitchy either.

Lamar and Vick are twitchy. Lance is a beast like an Allen or a Newton. Got some Kap in him too but more accurate passer.

Don't really see the Kap thing. Kap's arm hit the back judge on his windup. Wish that would stop.

I've gone over the similarities and differences. Lance ran a pro style offense from a huddle... for one season including highschool. Still, that and accuracy are his two biggest advantages over Kap. Throwing motion... ok, another plus for Lance. Similarites are arm strength, production (anyone of Kaps final three seasons look pretty similar on paper to Lances), and size (6'4" 225lbs). There's no perfect comp for Trey as there's never been a 20yr old from a dII program with only one season of games under his belt to go this high. Wentz had more experience but Lance had a better season than Carson ever did. McNair had similar size and traits but had historic production to go with it. Allen threw the ball a lot more. Trey is super exciting and had to have been a tough guy to scout. But at the end of the day upside wins out. Worst case I see here is Kap... most likely is somewhere in the McNabb, McNari, and Allen group.

Kyle Shanahan (an actual professional NFL play designer) saying that this guy's football mind is "second to none" is all you need to know, people!

Fans, gonna fan doe.

Yea, now that we know he's not as dumb as the media was making him look, we can trust him again.

Rich said that he heard it was Lance all along.

And, yes - Atlanta really liked Lance (and they really liked him for a while too - hence the tweet) and would have drafted him at 4 if we didn't.

Allbright said that Denver liked Lance a ton as well...I think that was the only QB they would have taken if there (clearly because they passed on Fields/Jones).

I think Lance has more agility when compared to Kap, and that's what I was doing in the post above, comparing Lance to Kap.

The situation had changed out of necessity. At the time the trade was made, both were looking for a QB. I suspect Carolina realized the top 4 would be gone by their pick and settled for Darnold. Denver decided the draft capital was better spent elsewhere thereby giving Lock another year to develop. Had those decisions not been made, it is highly unlikely Fields would have dropped past them.
Please. If somehow Zach Wilson was left on the board and it was time for Denver to pick, they'd toss Lock out like a dirty pair of drawz.

He wasn't in the equation, everyone knew him and Lawrence were gone by pick three.

Yea - I believe he mentioned that Denver may even move up for Lance if he Niners didn't draft him.

I am just really glad that Niners kept quiet about it and moved up to 3 when no one expected.

Oh...and thank you Miami Dolphins for playing ball. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
I'm still f**king pumped!

I'm not sure how long you've been following football, but name ONE QB drafted TOP 5 that did not have the TRAITS??

I've been watching football for over 30 years...yes moon we know you love talking about football from the 80s, like that means anything now.

ALL these players being drafted have some sort of "traits" it's a broad term....not all of them have top 5 upside and this kid does. He has all the things you look for and is only 20! And as you know, moon most QBs going top 5 are often going to trash organizations, with bad coaching, and horrible rosters....that's NOT the case here. Any of the top 5 QBs going here would have success....some just have higher ceilings. plain and simple.

NAH NAH NAH NAHH.... don't try to reply with a SAFE explanation..

you posted TOP 5... top 5 QBs... . safe to say that you saw this TRAITS in TRUBISKY... but not with WATSON - MAHOMES and JOSH ALLEN..

right ???

Gotta give him credit.. Hes still sticking to his guns and saying Mac Jones is the next Drew Brees

Let's see how it plays out in the next 10 years. He'll have to compete in the AFC against Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar, Herbert, Burrow, Mayfield
