I think he's likely correct we didn't trade up for Lance either.
I agree with that.

There's nothing to support that Wilson was their guy, and it was well known the Jets were going to draft him. Information that would have been easily discernible in their effort to trade up. Look how they operated after they made the trade.
You're preaching to the choir.
lol, we did not trade up for Lance that's for sure

there's a 3rd option, they gambled and lost

biggest idiots don't get you to SBs and multiple NFCCGs
I wouldn't call trading up for a guy that has zero chance of being there a gamble but that's me.

if there was really a zero chance, then there's no need to move up to 3

no i get hindsight.. it's just we moved up and got stuck when Wilson wasn't going to be there.

Jets showed they could keep Darnold in some interviews about his untapped potential before ZWs pro day and they still kept him after the draft.

Kyle knew Fields already and was disgusted with Jones. They didn't start looking into Lance seriously until after the trade.

Which is why it was idiotic to move up if in fact Wilson was their target which I don't believe was the case.

Where do you get that Kyle was disgusted by Jones from?

Wilson would have been a horrible pick too.

More than likely but things may have been different if he ended up here instead of with the Jets.

I don't recall that at all,but I do recall him being in play right up till the end according to the media.

Thats why i'm here to give the facts. Media and other fans really believed those reports on jones were all based on team success at bama.

The Zone consensus had a majority of not believing that and would be pissed if we did pick Jones

I think that would be true for all five of those quarterbacks that year. Even now, none are in situations with teams known for being good with QBs. I liked Wilson, but like most early picks, he went to a bad team and failed.
Personally, I feel Shanalynch were debating between Lance and Fields. Both had traits (or at least more traits) like the QB they were actually envious of: Josh Allen. Neither Wilson or Jones scratched that itch.
