Same goes for Trey. I still like the building blocks I liked at draft. He is a good kid and hope it works for him no matter where.

No three camps.

Brock is Montana

Brock was great last year. Let's hope he continues and has the right to prove it wasn't a fluke.

Brock is a one hit wonder, he's nick Mullens, and Trey deserves all.the reps because of his draft position. Brocks camp interceptions prove he sucks.

Even though he can't outright win the #1 job in this camp, he can still by his performance make Brock's leash shorter.

Obviously beyond that he needs to be prepared as if he's the number one guy cause if something happens, more than likely it's gonna be his show.

And you guys say "Hey we're all 9er fans I hope whoever is the QB wins us a Super Bowl".

But instead you want Trey Lance to perform so he can make Brock's leash tighter.

Someone go dig and show me where I said something like this. I'm no Trey Lance fan, but no way did I say this kind of crap about the 9er QB room.

OK, holy cow, I am legitimately baffled. Kolohe, I have never known you to be an unreasonable dude, so the only possible explanation I can come up with for your response here is that my comment somehow was greatly misinterpreted.

Heck yeah, I definitely want Lance to do SO well this camp and preseason that the the team goes into the season feeling extremely confident in their #2. For him to do so well to narrow the perceived gap between him and Brock, man.. why in the actual f**k wouldn't any fan of this team want this too?

A short leash -- by way of exceptional talent at #2 that has been performing too well not to notice -- is absolutely NOT a bad thing.

When it was Jimmy-Beathard-Mullens, it wasn't even close who was better, no matter how much Jimmy struggled. I don't want this kind of situation.

I want Trey to do well enough to be thought of way more highly so that coaches aren't sitting there saying, "Well, f**k the gap is so wide, we've got no effing chance with anyone else even if Brock has already thrown 4 picks again today" (hypothetical scenario).

Holy Reaching Batman!

There is nothing wrong with what he said and it doesn't put down Brock either. He's rooting for a situation where Trey looks to be great on his own and IF Brock falters it gives the team another option where they can feel confident in how the team can have a good QB in there.

In the scenario he outlined there is also a scenario which we're all rooting for which is Trey makes Brock's leash tighter but Brock plays so well there is no reason at all to pull him. So you get two good QBs and if Brock shows he can stay healthy a full season Trey's value only goes up for a trade next offseason.

Not sure why some of you guys are so shocked that people want a solid option for worst case scenario if somehow Brock isn't the same guy after his injury?

THANK YOU! THIS IS WHAT I WAS SAYING!

Yah, if I was in the Brock Purdy thread and said the exact same thing only reversed the names, I'd be called a troll.

You know someone is full of s**t when that person explains too much. Just saying.

Dude, they aren't saying that because they're "Lance fans". They're 49ers fans hoping for the best possible scenario for the team. Seriously, the only bias I've seen on this board regarding Lance and Brock comes from those who dislike Lance, but the "Lance fans" you're referring to aren't rooting against Purdy by any stretch. You are projecting your feelings onto others.
It's getting a lil unhealthy @ this point. Starting to worry about you bro. It's just a game.

Weird stuff indeed. The better all the QBs perform, the better off the team is.

What are you talking about? No you wouldn't. I've said the same thing and so have others about Brock with the ideal scenario for the team being that Brock widens the gap so big during this season that we don't have to even worry about whether Lance is gonna be great anymore.

Trey's best case scenario this preseason is earn as much confidence from the staff as he possibly can
Putting pressure on Brock, which not only means Lance is excelling, a great thing for the team and our QB room/depth, should also naturally push Brock to do even better as well.

The fact that I even have to explain all this is absolutely insane.

BPs best case, he runs away with it
TLs best case he catches BP or surpasses
49ers best case, each QB improves their game, and we have 3 or 4 great ones

can I get an agreement? We gotta agree on stuff, from time to time, just to change it up

I had assumed that all 53-55 + the practice squad were 49ers.

Here you are when Trey was lined up for the #1 Job:

Second, it's Lynch who should be praying, I could give two s**ts if Lance is a bust, I'm not the one who spent three 1st round picks and some change on him nor am I a Trey Lance fan. With all the expectations around here and the back and fourth arguments about past 49er QB's, only way I turn into a Trey Lance believer is if he helps the 9ers win the Super Bowl. Other than that I could careless about what he does during the season.
