Even though he can't outright win the #1 job in this camp, he can still by his performance make Brock's leash shorter.
Obviously beyond that he needs to be prepared as if he's the number one guy cause if something happens, more than likely it's gonna be his show.
And you guys say "Hey we're all 9er fans I hope whoever is the QB wins us a Super Bowl".
But instead you want Trey Lance to perform so he can make Brock's leash tighter.
Someone go dig and show me where I said something like this. I'm no Trey Lance fan, but no way did I say this kind of crap about the 9er QB room.
OK, holy cow, I am legitimately baffled. Kolohe, I have never known you to be an unreasonable dude, so the only possible explanation I can come up with for your response here is that my comment somehow was greatly misinterpreted.
Heck yeah, I definitely want Lance to do SO well this camp and preseason that the the team goes into the season feeling extremely confident in their #2. For him to do so well to narrow the perceived gap between him and Brock, man.. why in the actual f**k wouldn't any fan of this team want this too?
A short leash -- by way of exceptional talent at #2 that has been
performing too well not to notice -- is absolutely NOT a bad thing.
When it was Jimmy-Beathard-Mullens, it wasn't even close who was better, no matter how much Jimmy struggled. I don't want this kind of situation.
I want Trey to do well enough to be thought of way more highly so that coaches aren't sitting there saying, "Well, f**k the gap is so wide, we've got no effing chance with anyone else even if Brock has already thrown 4 picks again today" (hypothetical scenario).
