I truly believe Trey has all the tools to succeed and completely agree with genus49 & OnTheClock points in the previous posts esp with regard to ridiculous blame he is getting for the Chicago game (yup the defense holding Fields to <3 rating in the first half and then forgetting how to tackle/committ nonstop penalities in the 2nd half made a difference). I would recommend you guys to simply block the obvious trolls so their posts don't show up. You are giving these morons a say when they actually aren't even 49er fans.
I think Shanahan realized based on this camp to scrap the RPO b******t (not much run in camp as per reports from all media members). If nothing is there, Trey is better off scrambling then just having to run from the onset. One major thing I hoped he worked on his own is just sliding or going to the ground ASAP if nothing is there. Live to play another down.

I want to see Trey do the same. Let's go! Recording set and ready for 9er football. Don't give a s**t about Sam tomorrow. Hope Trey says kiss my ass I'm ready.
Go 9ers!
The problem is, I am not sure preseason can ever give you what you are looking for. Best players aren't playing, especially in the first preseason game, and teams don't scheme. They will probably only call the basic plays.

Well, Brock is the starting QB, and Kyle has no plan to put Trey on the field for certain packages (he did that in early 2021 and abandoned that after a few games).

Even though he can't outright win the #1 job in this camp, he can still by his performance make Brock's leash shorter.
Obviously beyond that he needs to be prepared as if he's the number one guy cause if something happens, more than likely it's gonna be his show.
And you guys say "Hey we're all 9er fans I hope whoever is the QB wins us a Super Bowl".
But instead you want Trey Lance to perform so he can make Brock's leash tighter.
Someone go dig and show me where I said something like this. I'm no Trey Lance fan, but no way did I say this kind of crap about the 9er QB room.

Ideally you want your QB1 to have as short a leash as possible, so long as it is short because your QB2 is really not QB2, more like QB1-B. If you could have Joe and Tom on the same team, just b/c your QB1 is great, doesn't mean you, as a fan, or a coach, especially a coach, would want your QB2 to be awful. Ideally you want to have two QB1s. And that's what most here seem to be saying when they say they want Trey to excel with the opportunities he is given.
Hell, where is Faithful to talk ad nauseam about competition--iron sharpening iron and what not? What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

"But instead" ?? We can't want our 2nd string players to push hard and work their starters hard?
Rooting for the 2nd team players to pick it up and work hard to improve and ascend makes us poor 9er fans?

I had assumed that all 53-55 + the practice squad were 49ers.
Here you are when Trey was lined up for the #1 Job:

Second, it's Lynch who should be praying, I could give two s**ts if Lance is a bust, I'm not the one who spent three 1st round picks and some change on him nor am I a Trey Lance fan. With all the expectations around here and the back and fourth arguments about past 49er QB's, only way I turn into a Trey Lance believer is if he helps the 9ers win the Super Bowl. Other than that I could careless about what he does during the season.

yeah amigo.....
It is an easy trap to fall in, it is easy to hate what was spent to get Trey....but for better or worse he is now on the team.
99% of the time I agree with those " I would not have drafted" posts......but in this particular case, rooting for number 2 to push number 1 is not the same thing as hoping number 1 fails.
I love Brock, I love the story, I love the personality, I love the gunslinging and chunk yardage. I really like Brock, glad he is QB1 and want him to ball out, but also I really do hope that Trey Lance plays lights out too to push him.
I don't think it is harmful for a young player to be looking over his shoulder, we dont really "know" Brock...we don't know what motivates him, so I want as many types of motivation at his back as possible.
Same for Lance, I hope Sam is pushing the heck out of him, I don't want QB2 to be an easy choice.
If a dude is going to crumble due to pressure, in the end that ....is......not......a dude we want to build the franchise around.
Kolohe..... my dude.....you have been around A LONG TIME.....through the great years, and well....the absolute crap years.... everyone knows you are a fan of the Team and not a single player.
Don't root for the collection of draft capital that was spent on a player, just root for the jersey on his back... we all want the same thing....number 6........and I bet Trey wants that as much as anyone of us.

Exactly when did they have short leashes???
No. It's never a a good sign when your qb1 has a short leash. Never.

Go Brock. Love the guy but please let me know when he can be listed with those other QBs. Brock off to a great start but has a long way to go. Same for Trey. So yeah, both puppies on a leash.

I think packages for Trey early in the season can surprise defenses and give Brock some relief as he gets to full strength.

I doubt Kyle does that this time around. It isn't even necessary because there are no limits with Brock.
I wish more fans recognized we have a good problem. If Trey somehow overlook Brock, great, because I know what Brock can do and it must mean Trey has truly ascended. If Brock remains as starter, great, because I think he can take us all the way.
If Brock was acquired for three ones and he did what he did last year, virtually no one would have a problem. We should all be so glad that we gave this QB room after what we have endured for the better part of 23 years.

Packages for Trey means lots of design runs, which has not been effective against NFL defense. Trey is simply not very explosive running the football.
If Trey got injured on design runs, a lot of posters in this forum will criticize Kyle big time all over again.

I think most fans are out of their mind happy with Brock but now there seems to be two camps. Brock is God and Brock off to a great start but slow down and let's be cautious in case. The Cowboy game while a win awesome could reflect how it really is. Let's let this thing play out.
Same goes for Trey. I still like the building blocks I liked at draft. He is a good kid and hope it works for him no matter where.

Holy Reaching Batman!
There is nothing wrong with what he said and it doesn't put down Brock either. He's rooting for a situation where Trey looks to be great on his own and IF Brock falters it gives the team another option where they can feel confident in how the team can have a good QB in there.
In the scenario he outlined there is also a scenario which we're all rooting for which is Trey makes Brock's leash tighter but Brock plays so well there is no reason at all to pull him. So you get two good QBs and if Brock shows he can stay healthy a full season Trey's value only goes up for a trade next offseason.
Not sure why some of you guys are so shocked that people want a solid option for worst case scenario if somehow Brock isn't the same guy after his injury?

If we are being honest, DAL had the #2 ranked pass rush and were the 2nd best run defense and the best tackling unit that Brock faced last season, including playoffs. Was he great? No. But he played like a poised vet and didn't make the back breaking mistakes that the guy across from him was making.
