He got the team 3 points so he wasn't that terrible. Maybe if the team scored nothing at all you could make a case. How many times has the team scored only 3 with Jimmy? Plenty of times, do you consider Jimmy a terrible QB? And that's from an 8 year veteran

Drives of first half

3 and out
Downs
Punt
Interception first pass of drive
Punt 4 play drive
Fg on a prevent defense in 38 seconds.

Not terrible.

Not terrible.

Sounds similar to the first half the following week

Interesting. I wonder which play he was measured on that. Cause once he gets going, he def is fast. I'm guessing 4.5 speed or so. I just don't think he's very quick or agile, at least not on designed runs. He seemed to do better scrambling when it wasn't a designed run.

I think you're right on all that.

Like Kap (was), he has good straight line speed imo

Yeah, Lance is closer to Kap in terms of athleticism.

Although, Kap did have that elite second gear in the NFL, that I've yet to see from Lance.

Those were nice moves by Kap

At home vs worst team opposed to on the road, east coast against a superbowl contender.

3pts in any half is terrible. I don't care if you're mahommes. It happens. Montana lost 49 to 3. Just don't use it as an example of not being terrible.

A rookie in his 2nd start vs a 8 year vet.

9ers had multiple halves of 3 or 7 points in 21. It was a year long issue.

Ok and how many yards did the offense have despite only scoring 3 points? Roughly around 169 but yeah he played so terrible. Try again
Here are a few basic facts:

  1. Brock Purdy is QB 1 this year (2023)
  2. Shanahan loves Brock Purdy
  3. Shanahan has never spoken about a 49er QB the way he had spoken about Purdy
  4. Purdy is the man (at least for now)
  5. Purdy received basically no reps as QB 4 (he took Nate Sudfeld's job) last summer
  6. Purdy somehow learned Shanahan's complicated offense in his rookie year without reps
  7. Purdy played exceptionally well in 2022
  8. Trey has not played well in the NFL
  9. Trey has very little experience playing football
  10. Trey had many skilled players on offense when he played for the 49ers
  11. Trey has not looked like the athlete we expected
  12. Trey has been given many opportunities to be QB 1
  13. High draft picks are given more opportunities than low draft picks
  14. Trey could not beat out Jimmy his first training camp despite the coaching staff desperately wanting him to.
  15. Trey could not take Jimmy's job in 2021 when given the chance
  16. Purdy took Jimmy and Trey's job when given the chance
  17. The team signed Jimmy as a backup in 2022 after casting him out like the plague
  18. Trey's shortcomings likely caused the team to retain Jimmy in 2022
  19. If Trey had Purdy's rookie season he would be considered the team's "franchise qb."
  20. If Purdy had Trey's rookie season we would cancel the "Mr." in "Mr. Irrelevant" (he would be just irrelevant)
  21. If Purdy had Trey's first four starts the Team would have benched Purdy
  22. If Purdy played the way Trey has played the team would not have made the playoffs in 2022
  23. If Purdy completed the percentage of throws that Trey has completed he would be benched
  24. Purdy would not be given the number of opportunities Trey has been given had Purdy played like Trey has played
  25. If Purdy played like Trey has played he would not be QB1 in 2023
  26. If Purdy played like Trey has played he would probably not make the team in 2023
  27. Wanting Purdy to not be ready for the season so Trey can start is an asinine take
  28. Purdy is the best QB on the 49ers roster right now
  29. More recently Shanahan has spoken fairly highly about Trey
  30. Hope that Trey can be a franchise QB is purely speculative
  31. Trey is fighting to be QB 2
  32. Trey failing to beat out Darnold will be a bad sign for Trey's NFL future
  33. This thread is crazy

You sure about that? They gave him one chance last year by naming him the starter. That's it. His rookie year they said right off the bat Jimmy is their guy.

Agreed. Trey has gotten one opportunity to start and get serious play time and he got injured after a disappointing performance in the opener in Chicago in garbage conditions. They said right from the get that Trey was going to sit a year.

Yes I am sure. (See points 14, 15, 17, and 18.) I'll add points 36 -38:

36. Trey was named starter in 2022.
37. Trey got injured week 2
38. Trey has been injured in almost every game he has played for the 49ers.

That's true. Probably because he didn't know his ass from his elbow on the field year 1. I saw the way shanny play called for him. His play calling for purdy was on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Shanny trusted Purdy. He did NOT trust Lance. He even had to beg the team to be patient and to support trey. And to make things worse was lances lack of availability. Two major injuries and a couple of nagging injuries in his limited playing time. Lynch said it himself Lance had to stay healthy.

Full of crap. It's true about week 1. But If trey lit it up againt the cardinals or the texans shanny would have stuck with him. Because he looked confused the majority of those games shanny went back to Jimmy. He had the chance and blew it.
