Regardless, today he was bending dat booty and using his hips more than I've seen from him. Good sign. Just bad timing for him. Now he's competing with Purdy and a possibly resurgent Darnold. But iron sharpens iron.

Yep. I also don't understand why people have done that to Brock after the rookie season he's had. Always trying to knock him. Lance understands but a faction of our fan base doesn't.

Yep. I also don't understand why people have done that to Brock after the rookie season he's had. Always trying to knock him. Lance understands but a faction of our fan base doesn't.

I don't like it, if that's the totality of how he feels. Trey's attitude should be, "I'm gonna take Purdy's job." Hopefully he feels that way and is just being diplomatic. Same with Darnold. I need these guys to ruthlessly compete. You can be a good teammate and good sport if you lose the competition. But you need to be acting as if you want to take that man's job.

I'm not expecting him to say it, I'm just expecting him to feel it. I'm just afraid he's too passive. As I said, you have to be diplomatic and a good teammate. But you still got to have that ruthlessness.

Exactly. He's had a good contingent of fans who say they did, but really never supported him and that crowd has gotten larger since Purdy played so well last year. Anything other than towing the team line would be dumb for him to say. Keep it vanilla and team focused and concentrate on putting in work top try to regain that starting position.

I really feel like you misinterpret a lot of whats going on, on this board. Or you make sweeping generalizations. People are giving Brock s**t? People are always trying to knock him? Where is this happening?

At worst, I have seen people say that they want to see him prove it over a longer stretch before they crown him. Or that they want to see how he comes back from an injury.

Where are all these people? Was there a single Niner fan that wasnt thrilled with what he did for us last season?

This is how I feel as well. Not just Trey but all QBs. It's easy to do it when you're literally working on doing it. It's having it become natural is where I have my doubts with all QBS. When you can't just concentrate on your mechanics because you have a play to run and defense to beat. That's when they usually resort back to what they are.

No no no. It was Lance's interviews which made me actually start willing to put in time to research who he was. You have to be diplomatic as he did. But I'm afraid Lance is a "what you see is what you get" guy, and he actually feels like he's still in that understudy role. He has got to come out fighting to steal a man's job if he wants to be the QB for the 49ers going forward.

Exactly.

I am one of those people and I have a lot of faith in Brock. I saw something that looked special last year. I just want to see that continue post-injury and into his second season before we have any major shakeups in our QB room. That was my major argument against trading Lance. I think Brock could be our FQB going forward. I also thought Jimmy G was going to be special in Shanahan's offense after his 5 games in 2017 and was mostly disappointed since. I really hope Brock is HIM, but It'd dumb to trade away assets without more proof.
