here we go

Jackson minus a bunch of picks. $200M gone thus demolishing the roster. While it would be sick to see…I think they're gonna be just fine without him

I don't think Jackson would fit well in Kyle's system He would have to learn to stay in the pocket or rollout and pass and not run so much. Anyway I think he would be way too expensive.

KS reportedly took TL for 11 v 11 football, with the QB as an active run threat. He tried running TL a lot, however TL kept getting beat to the spot.. famously vs ARZ, and really his entire time here. I have challenged the WZ openly, many times now, anyone, to show a single live play vs another team in the NFL, where TL kept it as a designed runner, and it was a good play, or he threatened the D. With Lamar, you would see these type of plays in one snap or one series. Not zero times in two years.

nuff said ... just very disheartning to hear kyle talk about trey in that way. jeez this was supposed be to our patrick maholmes

I mean end of the day Lance hasn't played enough to prove anything good or bad. Kyle's trying to win games regardless. If lance goes out there and has a really good off season and starts week one…all bets are off on who's the guy long-term. Imo it's a lot more fluid then some people want to admit.

Welcome to what I was talking about a month ago folks.. we gonna add a real guy (done) and it's gonna be a great summer of two very talented guys out there showing what they can do. Not a lot of clubs have 2 young top 3 pick QBs out there in summer.. do any, other than us?

that about sums it up to me

3 question marks; just hope one lands in our favor

This is hilarious to me.

Never has this been more obvious than last two days between John and Kyle's comments how people hear what they want to hear.

Did you actually read Kyle's quote? Not Lombardi's quote on that quote? Every time Sam is brought up it's after mentioning Brock's injury. There is nothing in Kyle's quote to point to Darnold being in the running for QB1.

Them saying he's there to show them what he can do doesn't push him to the front of the line even if Brock is out.

Question wasn't will first team reps be split equally between Trey and Sam.

I can have a whole pizza and give you a bite of one slice. You can then claim we shared a Pizza.

just reading the tea leaves. your third pick overall has to battle with sam darnold for starting reps. in my opinion ... he's a goner. nothing against trey , i want him to be our starting QB, But that is what kyles statements say to me. By the way jackson is better than RGIII in my opinion

Fully agree. We aren't getting him, or RGIII, or Kaepernick. And "my" third overall pick to win the backup roll is the one that won two thirds of his games last season. That's up there with the best of them.

Lombardi and most ppl outside the WZ see our QB situation right now as a question mark

He's splitting first team reps with Darnold? Yikes

No. He said he expect both guys to get some first string reps…he didn't say they would be splitting them.

That is, by definition, splitting reps.

Woo by TKO

Bahaha cool if we go out to dinner and you guys pay for 90% of the bill. I'll call that "splitting" it 😉

looks like you beat me to the analogy about this.

Sam Darnold shouldn't be getting any first teams reps after what they invested in Trey Lance. Everyone agrees Trey Lance needs as many reps as possible, and now you've got the head coach saying he'll be sharing reps with Sam Darnold. It doesn't matter if it's 1 rep or 100 reps--Trey should be getting all of them.

IMO, this is a terrible sign.

Of course it's a question mark. The two QBs who actually played last year are coming off serious injury and the one who played the best may not even be cleared by week 1, let alone training camp.

I don't care what is said...I cannot imagine the team would hand Darnold QB1 job and give him equal share of first string reps when they know Lance needs all that he can get. Darnold is a proven player and it's not a pretty track record. I'm sure they'll want to see what he looks like with our top dogs out there but they know Lance is the guy who needs the bulk of the reps.

Jed York keeps talking about QBs on a rookie contract and what it buys them. Guess which QBs are on rookie contracts and which QB is on a 1 year incentive laden deal?

You don't need a quote. If you look at the situation it's made sense for awhile.

They wanted to move on from Jimmy, and while he was injured the guy they spent 3 firsts on to do so had his best game against the Texans. The perfect time to make the transition with the fan base behind it. Instead they rush Jimmy back before he's 100% and bench Trey. That was a red flag.

Bringing Jimmy back with incentives was a red flag and so was the Darnold signing. You just had to accept it.

The play calling is another red flag. Everybody just says have him run the Jimmy/Purdy offense, but the reason he's not allowed is lack of confidence. I've seen this coming from miles away. The practice reports, the tape, it all lines up. He hasn't been what they thought he would be.

This is right on, Charlie.

Taking the next step, why would Lynch and Shanahan announce who the starting quarterback is this early. Does that sound like them? Does it give them a competitive advantage? They don't need to do that. The opposite is true. Why not keep everybody motivated with the carrot of the starting job dangling out there? I can't think of another reason other than to invite trade offers. Who thinks there will not be inquiries now?

And as for saying the book is still out on Brock. It's not. And here's the reason why. He makes the right decisions, and goes to the right place with the ball. Is there room for improvement in the execution. Sure there is. Is there even room for improvement in going to the right place? Absoluteley, there is. But that process is already at a very high level, and while there are always missed opportunities and better options, Kyle trusts him not to make WTF plays, and puts the ball in his hands when those plays would be very costly, and that's something we've Never seen during Kyle's tenure here. That quick mind and good judgement does not go away, and Kyle and John recognize a gem when they see one. Time for the fans to catch up. Brock Purdy will only get better.

Exactly. What is the point of saying a QB that is rehabbing is the starter if you don't feel strongly about it? This QB situation is not as fluid as some want to believe

That's what I and others thought. Sam would only be here as camp body. Lance would get 1st team reps to get ready for season opener. And Darnold would serve as backup QB in the mean time.
