What was so horrible in preseason? Let me know when you get all the tape of the preseason practices. Let me know when you get all the all-22 of his passing attempts and we can all sit down, figure out his reads, and really see how much he missed them (for sure does, probably not as much as some in here want to admit).

I saw years worth of Trevor Lawrence in college (way more passing attempts) only to play like complete s**t his rookie year…I'm not talking about 100 passing attempts, the whole season. He couldn't process quickly enough. His mechanics went out the window when pressure was coming at him. Took him a year of football to figure it out.

the thing that some fans refuse to understand is when Lance was picked there was gonna be a process/developmental period. It wasn't gonna be 100 random passing attempts.

Not sure why you guys keep saying this. It seems to me that fans understood it would take a while. That is part of the reason why they didn't want him in the first place. Don't even get me started with your claim prior to the draft of him be as pro ready as anyone else in the draft. Even compared his 17 starts to Mac's 17 starts. So please spare me the fans refuse to understand speech.

Passer rating is a formula that is based heavily around completion percentage and to a lesser extent TD% and INT%.

Congratulations!

I don't know what all went into building my car. I just drive it. Do you walk everywhere because you don't know how your car was built?

I don't know how this PC was built. I just type on it.

I don't know how my beer was brewed I just drink it.

I don't know how they tabulate QBR I just use it.

I'm not one of those people that needs everything broken down for me.

Congrats to you though!

You aren't on a forum discussing how to build a car, though. You are discussing how to build a QB and the last major response we've had from you is "take Mac Jones."

I concur though,...if you are going to quote complicated stuff and use it as proof,....well...the least you could do is to show you've at least tried to understand it.

Trey will get his chance with the A-Team during the off-season and training camp and preseason. If he looks okay I have a feeling brock might just need an extra week or two to heal up and Trey can take the reins for the first eight quarters of the season. Maybe ---- if he looks like he's made progress with his wind up sliding and accuracy. Hard work will be rewarded. But at the end of the day the quarterback who gives the team the best chance to win will be under Center. Pro football isn't a charity when your team has one of the biggest payrolls in the league and is a contender for the postseason.

Wind up lol? There is absolutely nothing wrong with his throwing motion. Any QB coach would agree. Accuracy is based around footwork and timing. Not his wind up. Only people calling it an issue are fans that have absolutely no clue about QB throwing mechanics and what matters.

everything else I agree with…the whole charity thing is kinda silly though. Higher end draft picks get longer leashes in the league. That's just the reality of it.

YYou can time has wind up with a sundial. It has to get faster or he can't play in this league.

As long as he has the talent he does around him and Shanny calling plays, he can play in this league. We can even win games with him. I just don't think the offense would look the way we want it to look. IMO

All these plays look like rookie mistakes. Not stuff where he's incapable of running the offense or can't see the field at all…we know this because there is plays of him doing just that. I mean I can provide a ton of bad reads/throws for a lot of rookie QBs all the same.

Most of his success started once Shanny put him in shotgun. His under center stuff wasn't great. I conceded the 2 TD's the 1st of which looked alot like the interception play where he missed Deebo on the same route. Looked like Shanny saw it and dialed it up again. His also executed the pass to Mitchell for the TD. The rest of his success was from shotgun. Which isn't running the offense.

Ahh what? So tell me none of this was "running the offense"….

Brock played predominantly out of gun. Most under center plays were either play-actions or bootleg predetermined reads.

Jimmy played a f**k ton out of gun. In fact he was way more successful doing that than under center drop backs.

His snaps (even though limited) at NDSU were more valuable then throwing a f**k ton of bubble screens and RPOs. He actually had to read coverages (outside of what a LBer was doing). He actually had protection calls. Full field reads. Not some spread offense. The fact that he had 300 passing attempts coming into the league and hadn't played since 2019 AND didn't look lost is proof that he can handle it.

yeah I'll keep saying that over and over regardless of you saying "fans understood" when f**king clearly they didn't….guess what we didn't make the pick. The 49ers did. They understood it wasn't gonna be 100 passing attempts and he would magically be Mahomes.

I mean if there's one thing you constantly prove in here it's you know nothing about the QB position.
Thread from that Bears game

I forgot we had like 6 penalties for 60 yards in the second half as well. Early season rust. Nothing new there

After doing more research I will concede I dropped the ball on the the shotgun notion. I will standby my take that Lance was horrible under center and on play action for that matter. 10-20 with 2 ints under center. 8-20 with 2 ints on playaction. That was last year. Only 2 of 6 this year under center and PA passes.

Him playing under center and a style similar to Kyles was allegedly part of the allure. I didn't like how he looked in college on PA and it's not looking good as of right now in the pros either.

That's what they say. I remeber watching one guy's break down saying he only seen a handful of rolled coverages. Saying the defenses at the level was very vanilla. Which you'd have to admit it seems likely that it's easier to read a DII defense than defenses from the bigger conferences.

You might be right, in fact I'd agree.

Where we differ though is that I think about when he can get the offense going like we want it to look.

How long would it take? I don't know

Will it just be better to roll with Brock? Maybe

But if and when Trey brings everything he has, with everything Kyle wants him to do, we're talking about a QB beyond that of which exists in our division (or in our building), and then a team beyond what exists in the NFL.

I just want to see him have that chance, if and when we run out of patience, or he runs out of time, well we still have Brock.

3 full games just absolutely isn't enough to say he can't do it.

I just hate the thought of the Niners giving up on him too soon only to see him become a star with another team. After using that many draft picks to get him, they need to give him all the time and opportunities needed before making a final decision.

If Jimmy was the alternative or Darnold, I'd agree and would accept that. After watching what Brock did, no way would I give him all the time and opportunities. He clearly gets a chance this off season but if it doesn't look anything close to what I witnessed last year, i'd be putting Brock in once he's cleared and ready.

Were you getting those numbers? The play action numbers?

While I agree the level of talent overall was not as fast…he absolutely had full field reads. Again it was an incredibly small sample size as a 19 yr old QB.
