It's a 4 year deal. You have a 5th year option but it's expensive. 2 years are done. After year 3 you are either picking up year 5 or not.

Even if Lance s**ts the bed in his third year, they have to pick up his 5th option regardless. If they don't they'll look like fools for trading the farm away. Even Alex Smith got 7 years, with that said Smith didn't start out his career on IR.

He didn't have Shanahan either though. He had a revolving door of s**tty coaches.

Very true. Mike Nolan really hurt Smith's career early. At least Smith was able to bounce back and show everyone he can win in the league.

Yep, Lance deserves a great offensive coach and stability. I wish Alex would have gotten it.
