Well stop committing penalties. That's like saying "trey lance only completed that long pass because the bears turned it over".. yeah bro, that's football.. that's how it works.

Our TD did come after a 3rd and 3 neutral zone infraction from the Bears. So we scored 3 without the help from their penalties if we're going to use that

You mean the play that our QB hard counted and drew them offsides? Yeah thats totally the same thing kriz.

Lol I like Fields (he was my pick) but he wasn't anything special at all yesterday. Dude was given two broken coverages that turned into TDs. His INT was worse then Trey's imo. Fields would have lost the game all the same with an extra 100 yards of penalties.

using first take to prove anything is incredibly lame.

agreed with all of this.

i liked lance over fields though, and i think that will be proven out correct in the long term.

Yea I liked both guys. Liked Fields a little better due to the fact that he did work versus top tier talent. At the end of the game I wasn't thinking oh my god we made a horrible mistake taking Lance over Fields.

one thing fields has over lance is that he's faster, nothing trey can do about that.

but trey needs to take a page from fields book and SLIDE

Yeah Fields was willing to miss out on an extra yard to not get hit in theory. With our s**t for brains linebackers he still got hit. But he knows to get down

its an added benefit of sliding, you do it 5 times and there's a good chance you'll draw a flag. trey will never get a flag trying to barrel through people

The Refs gonna start giving Lance the Cam Newton treatment.

Beyond the numbers, brother. Fields flashed special. Literally won the game for his time because no one made anything happen. That receiver was that open because Justin scrambled and threw back... HE did that. It wasn't a blown coverage. You're trying to downplay his performance by pretending like there wasn't a drastic difference in Chicago's offense in the 2nd half.

It was 1000% a blown coverage. No reason Greenlaw needed to leave to go pursue.

Blown because Fields escaped pressure and was a potential threat as a runner.. see how that works? Greenlaw didn't get lost on his own.

pettis was literally just standing there. there should have been a defender occupying that area of the field.

guys this isn't difficult to understand

Because Greenlaw dashed after Fields assuming he was going to scramble. Even then, he threw across the field with a soaked football in a downpour. If that was Tre Lance you guys would be lining up to sing his praises.

you can't just leave defenders completely unguarded, that's called busted coverage

I am a big OSU fan and wanted Fields in the draft but people blowing Fields for that game is hilarious. The guy was 8-17 and had 11 rushes for 28 yards. He made 1 play where he broke a sack and threw it to Pettis who didn't have anyone within 20 yards of him. Take that blown coverage away and he was 7-16 for 70 yards

I think Fields is going to be a good QB and still wish the 49ers should have drafted him but acting like he was good yesterday is laughable. Trey had more rushing and passing yards.

Trey and Fields both looked like s**t yesterday

You must have your blinders on. Outside of a few scrambles, Fields didn't flash much of anything yesterday. Sure he looked more polish throwing the ball, but you are putting him on a pedestal that just doesn't exist yet.

There was not that huge of a difference in the CHI offense in the second half. If it wasn't for the penalties and the blown coverage, they would have probably been shut out.

I'm so sick of this Trey one year experience crap. Trey had 2 full games last season. You keep talking about actual game snaps are needed. Trey didn't have a whole year. It's 2 full games for Lance. Your bias is showing.

Slightly edited to make the same point. You're soooooo close to getting it.

I do recognize as the tv broadcasters did it's a nice play by Fields. He has to keep the play alive a very long time.. in which case.. players will uncover.. he then locates across body.. field is 53 1/2 wide.. he's putting it across a lot of that distance.. to be able to pick out someone that far across field shows he was scanning the entire field while rolling the opposite direction. It was a good play. Sometimes just tip your cap.. they played well in winning time (late 3rd and into 4th qtr) we did not..

Im not downplaying Fields performance. People are over blowing him for 1 play. He made amazing play to break the sack. It was a blown coverage. 2 defenders ran with the RB and left Pettis alone. They didn't think he was sacked they literally both ran with another player after the broken sack. Take that play away and he only had 98 yards total. Even with it he had 149 yards total. 1 play in my eyes is not him flashing. 1 play in an overall mediocre performance is not a good game

I will continue to say I wanted Fields over Lance and wish we drafted him. But to act like his performance yesterday was amazing is not true.

Lol oops.

So defenders making a mistake after a QB makes a smart decision. Like sliding…

Be that as it may we very well may have been kicking a FG if not for the penalty. That was the argument being made. Penalties keeping drives alive to allow them to score. Look at it both ways

Yeah but we don't know if we would have converted or not on that 3rd down. A big difference from getting a stop on 3rd down and then getting called for a penalty afterwards.

Its a terrible argument though.

You are trying to draw parallels between a running back being totally stopped and our player flying in and grabbing his facemask to our QB hard counting and drawing multiple Bears defenders into the neutral zone.
