I think he's accurate enough to get us to the playoffs. To win it, he's going to have to get Joe Flacco hot IMO.

I don't think it'll improve nearly enough to hit the ceiling everyone put on him.

Even if you practice something constantly, eventually you will cap at your natural limit. Most NFL QBs, especially after a few years in the league, either have their habits ingrained to the point where it's difficult to undo or change or they've hit the ceiling of their natural ability and 1000s of additional reps might only produce minimal improvement, if any. Lance's lack of experience is both a blessing and a curse, because obviously it sucks that he isn't already a more refined product, but it also means he still has a lot of room for growth. With him being only 22 and without a ton of reps in his career, it doesn't seem that unbelievable that he could improve his accuracy by a significant degree as he refines his mechanics.

I agree with the last part, Lance's lack of overall football is a blessing and a curse. He doesn't have bad tendencies ingrained in him from years and years of playing QB. He's gonna need time to be molded correctly BUT that's only gonna happen by playing football.

josh Allen was imo even worse then Lance coming out of college when it comes to accuracy. He improved his footwork and become more knowledgeable of coverages. He's not gonna be Drew Brees as far as accuracy goes. But he doesn't have to be. Same thing with Lance. Personally I think he's made of the right stuff to overcome all the b******t people are saying and will work his ass off to be successful. Gonna take some time and a bunch of BS from the media and our own fans.

Completely agree. So how likely is it that Trey has hit his peak in such a short time?

Short time? He's been working on the same things you guys said he need to work on with the gurus for 3 years now. Bullets start flying in 2 weeks so he won't get to work on it fir another 6 months. So it will be his 4th straight year working on mechanics. At what point do we just say it is what it is?

Has he? A lot of what he's been working on this last year has been his footwork and timing as it relates to this specific offense.
The most accurate passer in NFL history was sub 60% his first 3 seasons in the NFL combined.

You are talking completion % not the say thing

It's not. But no one under 60% for 3 seasons will be mistaken for being accurate. It took Drew a lot of work to get where he got to.

I was never tossing the Mahomes card on him. I comped to Allen based on their college careers and skill sets. That would be the peak imo.

my original comp was Steve McNair and I'm more than happy with that.
We almost won a SB (and made it to another one) with a QB that has thrown more INTs then TDs in the playoffs and has some of the worst 4th QR stats in playoff history.

Another guy who absolutely improved his accuracy over time. Was never elite or anything but it was good enough to win lots of games.

Well, he hasn't even played as much football as most QBs entering the draft. So yeah, short time.

Again, all QBs improve their accuracy over time. The question is to what extent will he improve. To say that a 22 year old kid with 1 full season of college ball under his belt is right now as good as he'll ever be is monumentally ignorant.

Imo McNair wouldn't be far off. Though I got McNabb vibes

Drew Brees draft profile..

Scout: Not as strong an arm as I initially thought. He's bright, smart, accurate but doesn't have a strong arm. Not as strong as (Cade) McNown. Is he a product of the system? Competitive, productive and can move around in the pocket. But he has limitations.

Personnel director II: Pure quarterback – accurate, poised. Would have been the third guy in that great 1999 quarterback draft (Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith went 1-2-3).

Head coach II: All he does is complete passes. Throws it where it's supposed to be. Tough, tough kid. Instinctive.

Can't confuse completion % for accuracy
All I know about Trey is that he needs to accept he is balding and cut his hair

I am too. Few years away from rocking a George Jefferson but still paying my barber to fade me up.
