He's definitely not a bust. I don't like what I saw, outside of a throw or 2 that stood out. But the parts of what I don't like are things that will be improved upon.

I'm not seeing the same red flags that I saw in the beginning with Colin Kaepernick. I see issues that can be corrected with time, practice, and eventually, experience.

What I saw shows me that it was the right decision to go with Jimmy for the season. With Jimmy, we are a playoff contender who can hang with anybody in the NFC (and yes, potentially be one and done as well). With Trey, we would easily be last place in the NFC West and would have been eliminated long before Seattle was.

But that's for this year. I don't think Trey is going to be a bust. I do think that he's not going to be worth all the draft capital given up to get him. I still think that all things considered, the team would have been better off with Jimmy / QB @ #12 + draft picks than with Trey - draft picks. But I also think that's more of an indictment on Kyle / John than it is on Trey. I think Trey himself will be fine.

I do think that people are overhyping his performance because of the bomb he threw to Deebo. A throw to a wide open receiver. A throw that literally any NFL QB could make. A throw that, yes, Jimmy, has made many times. Outside of that throw, he was very pedestrian.

Sorry but Ive never seen Jimmy roll to his right then throw 40 yards deep across the opposite hash. lol

It's not the bomb, and while lots of QBs can throw it, not many can throw it on a rope like that.

No, it's throws like the backpedaling deep crosser. THAT one, ten, maybe fifteen, QBs in the league can make. And the short post to Aiyuk, for example, because that's a graduate level throw (yes, Jimmy has made into traffic posts before; the point is, the rookie can do it, which compliments the things he's good at that Jimmy isn't).

When your rookie QB leads the NFL in intended air yards per attempt AND average completed air yards in his second start, that ought to be exciting. It means Trey will challenge defenses down the field, which is going to open up the run game, and maybe even make the short game easier for him. Lots to be excited about, given his raw, developmental state.

It feels like you guys are judging Trey based on what a VETERAN QB might look like, completely forgetting that he's an extremely raw rookie. Compare him to the standard ROOKIE with a comparable number of pass attempts (NFL and college), if you want an ACCURATE comparison.

Pfff... I once saw Jimmy evade 5 free rushers, juke all of them one at a time, and then throw it from his endzone to other endzone, while running down the field and catching the ball himself for a TD.

Fans shouldn't be frustrated over a 21 yr old rookie who's played in 2 games since 2019. No one should expect him to be a finished product.

my takeaway from that breakdown is he's doing pretty damn good for a kid that needs reps…a lot of his issues are completely correctable with more time.

I feel like you shouldn't be if you used like a 2nd round pick for the guy. But 3 firsts and a third is the reason I am personally frustrated with Lance at this point in time.

That doesn't change anything when it comes to the time he's played and who's he's practiced with….if you're expecting instant success then that's on you. The pick clearly wasn't meant for 2021 impact and Jimmy was paid accordingly….answer this, do you feel the same way paying Jimmy $100M and making him the 5 highest paid player in a Covid off season? Are you personally frustrated there as well?
His locker next to wards? Fuuuuck
2nd start looked good to me. Massive talent, but needs reps and his mechanics cleaned up a bit.

How anyone isn't psyched is beyond me. Kyle is totally rolling out with a revamped offense next season because of the things this kid can do.
