Here's a cut of just Lance's passing plays from 2019, and it's only 46 minutes.
Thanks for this.
Three observations from watching the first half:
1. The camera operators are not the best at tracking the ball.
2. When the play is not a designed run, Lance rarely takes off to run, instead preferring to keep his eyes down field. You can see why Kyle would like his decision making.
3. He does have some accuracy issues, but it's not as prevalent as it is sometimes made out to be. His ball placement and accuracy in the short to intermediate range is generally very good. His deep accuracy could use some work.
Sorry for laughing, but wasn't Jimmy Gs deep inaccurate overthrow in the Superbowl, a major reason for getting a more accurate QB? What a joke.

I don't think we made the decision to move on from Jimmy based on one play. Lance was also only 19 during these clips and has the physical talent to be able to develop into an accurate deep ball passer. Is it a concern? Sure, but not a major one and at this point we don't even know if it is still a problem.
I thought his frequent unavailability was the main reason.
Had he made that throw in the Superbowl, Trey Lance would not have been drafted.

QB postseason success has nothing to do with the playbook. It's all about being able to read the defense.
Obviously? No one is saying he'll be a better player because he knows how to call the plays. It, along with his experience under center and running play-action, will just reduce the amount of time it takes for him to be functional.
Right, watching film and learning coverages is all part of it too. Like Kyle said understanding the "why" of a play call is super important.

Peoples expectations are all ready setting themselves up for disappointment.

Yeah, I'm tempering my expectations. I'm really excited to watch him play, but not going to act like he's a world beater until he does.

The SB QB who sucked it up at the end? The SB QB who hasn't done anything since?
I'l take Lance Day 1 over Jimmy right now.

Start him when he's ready and looks better than Jimmy. Whether that's week 1 or next year. Shanahan should let a fair process play out.

This. We're not trying to sacrifice the season to develop a rookie. Who's ever best should play.
