and they both work for the athletic lol
Lmao the rookie who hasn't played in a year from d1 going to be a Ferrari and beat a Super Bowl starting q.b. Let the kid grow so he doesn't end up like 95% of first round qb's.
Peoples expectations are all ready setting themselves up for disappointment.

Thanks for this.

Three observations from watching the first half:

1. The camera operators are not the best at tracking the ball.
2. When the play is not a designed run, Lance rarely takes off to run, instead preferring to keep his eyes down field. You can see why Kyle would like his decision making.
3. He does have some accuracy issues, but it's not as prevalent as it is sometimes made out to be. His ball placement and accuracy in the short to intermediate range is generally very good. His deep accuracy could use some work.

Sorry for laughing, but wasn't Jimmy Gs deep inaccurate overthrow in the Superbowl, a major reason for getting a more accurate QB? What a joke.

If Trey had no legs and was a sitting duck, and couldn't throw to wide open comebacks on third down in the red zone due to pedestrian arm strength, THEN you'd have a point.

On the two key red area third downs that cost us 8 points (and thus a championship), Trey would have thrown the WIDE OPEN comeback for one and scrambled to pick up the other.

So yeah, try again.

I don't think we made the decision to move on from Jimmy based on one play. Lance was also only 19 during these clips and has the physical talent to be able to develop into an accurate deep ball passer. Is it a concern? Sure, but not a major one and at this point we don't even know if it is still a problem.

I thought his frequent unavailability was the main reason.

Had he made that throw in the Superbowl, Trey Lance would not have been drafted.

Had he converted two easy red zone third downs (one a wide open come back, another Kittle running wide open over the middle) instead of throwing to covered men because he has pedestrian vision and arm strength, he wouldn't have needed to complete that deep pass, because we would have been up by 4 instead of down by 3.

Lance has both better vision and better arm strength than Jimmy — AND he could have scrambled for one of those.

QB postseason success has nothing to do with the playbook. It's all about being able to read the defense.

Obviously? No one is saying he'll be a better player because he knows how to call the plays. It, along with his experience under center and running play-action, will just reduce the amount of time it takes for him to be functional.

Right, watching film and learning coverages is all part of it too. Like Kyle said understanding the "why" of a play call is super important.

Very. Good point.

David, don't call me Michael, Lombardi.

Lol great job trading up for a back up qb. Smh

If Trey is a back up then so is Jimmy. So we have nothing but back ups.

Of course that's false. Trey is a back up for a while, but then he's going to be an upgrade over what we have and by a lot.

Yeah, I'm tempering my expectations. I'm really excited to watch him play, but not going to act like he's a world beater until he does.

The SB QB who sucked it up at the end? The SB QB who hasn't done anything since?

I'l take Lance Day 1 over Jimmy right now.

Yep. If they actually make it fair and don't put 30 lb weights on Trey's ankles and make him throw left handed, Jimmy doesn't have a prayer.Haha

Start him after the bye week

Start him when he's ready and looks better than Jimmy. Whether that's week 1 or next year. Shanahan should let a fair process play out.

This. We're not trying to sacrifice the season to develop a rookie. Who's ever best should play.

He looked better than Jimmy getting off that couch when he was picked😏
