Don't get it. Did they both play this game?

It's not a good compare. Just fans doing fan things. Everybody knows Trey is the future, and Trey played okay today - which is probably enough to pass the torch. But there's a reason they cherry picked Garoppolo's worst game, half of which he had a serious hand injury. Of course, didn't pull up the games he was ranking amongst the top passers.

Cherry picked Jimmy's worst game? It's literally just his last game.

That's what I was wondering. Tough to compare one QB vs a certain team to another bs a different. That being said, Trey throws deeper than Jimmy. That is obvious to anyone with eyes.

True, but that chart isn't atypical for Jimmy. Most of his games this season would resemble it pretty closely.

Again, this isn't about knocking Jimmy. It's just about pointing out the difference and what that says about how Kyle alters his offense for the skillset of his QBs.

Fantasy football is it. Jimmy was #1 in ypa but these guys think air yards matter.

YPA is not air yards we've been through this…not sure why you don't get it. You don't care about depth of target but a lot of people do.
How about 250 ypg for Jimmy and Trey going for 250.

It's literally pointless. Yards are yards.

This is like dating. People want the next one to be different than the one they had. I hope Trey is the next Mahomes. He certainly has the talent. But this board will be dying for a sweet YPA stat if Trey's "air yards" don't translate to wins. If they don't win, it doesn't matter. It's just meaningless fan talk from fans looking to date somebody else -- trying to talk themselves into something better.

He may very well be. But some of these stat comparisons are nonsensical. It's apples and oranges.

And we average 24 ppg... Meaningless.

I didn't say meaningless. I said I enjoy watching Trey play more, he is more exciting, he throws deeper passes, and I would rather him as my quarterback than Jimmy. He will continue to get better, whereas Jimmy has plateaued. Trey is the future and Jimmy is the past.

Ok... That's all air yards are. Fantasy, betting, and entertainment.Thank you for finally admitting it.

Those passing spray charts show what areas of the field the defense needs to focus on defending. It simply shows tendency.

I think Lance is hesitant throwing over the middle at this time. So he's throwing outside more where there are less defenders. But this also shows he has the arm and the willingness to throw towards the outside.

I mean it shows what this offense could become…gonna take a little time but if/when it gets there 👀

The hope is NY that Kyle takes the training wheels off during the off-season, ensures he links up with a good QB coach and just do nothing but workout with his wideouts. All of what I saw today simply lacked experience, but boy when he figures it out and the games slows down for him - watch the f**k out NFC West.

Yup, he just needs more reps and growth. Fans need to be patient with the process. Going to the game day thread was ridiculous today. 1st half people wanted Lance thrown in the trash. A freaking 21 yr old with next to no legit experience or practice time since 2019, playing in basically a W16 playoff game…pretty sad.

Like you and your haters in the Jimmy thread. Welcome to reality. Those guys probably feel like you do whining about Jimmy. Do you finally get it?

I think Trey can be great. He may be great in this upcoming playoffs.

But people are conflating "hating on Trey" and "this is not the time to toy with our season" takes. You can love Trey and not want him to play at the same time (given the situation). Wanting him to sit or be on a quick hook does not make somebody a hater.

Why should fans be patient with Trey if the team literally must win next week. It is the opposite of patience. The Niners need to win. Maybe Trey is the best options right now. I'm not arguing he's not. But, certainly, thinking a 70% Garoppolo (who has owned the Rams) is the better choice is not a hot take.

All the Trey haters trying to ruin a good game and piss and moan

Just take your L and disappear until he does something bad again

Sure. We are fans. We pay the money to watch the games. We want to see great QB play, not good. We want to win above all else and we did, WHILE watching the future of our team begin his road.

There's a lot of info you can get from those charts…but some people don't like data

Don't have a choice. A torn ligament and bone chip doesn't magically get better in a couple weeks.
Gotta work on the kids happy feet. Wierd hitch when he throws keeps his passes from its true potential

watching a rookie get up to speed is brutal but I see improvement.

we're in a tough spot. Play next week he is dog food for the rams. Don't play him he will never improve
I'll digress though as I think Trey played pretty damn good. It's not his fault our fans have tremendous double standards.

Dude has ability but I do think he needs to figure out when to wing it and when to just Jimmy it. He's plenty capable.
