He will. It's going to be nice to finally have a good QB again for the first time in 20 years.

This is why I didn't think it made any sense to take the rawest qb ever with the roster we have.

So you don't think we should've drafted Trey?

No sir. I didn't like the trade up to 3. I would've traded up a tad for Slater or Surtain, filling a hole on an already ready to compete roster. Then building depth throughout the rest of the draft.
I do agree we needed a qb of the future but I don't believe in Lance. And aside from that, a team like the Niners shouldn't have taken a complete project, if taking a qb, get one either ready to play, then cut bait with Jimmy and strengthen the roster elsewhere, or just stay out of the market till next year.
Bottom line is, instead of strengthening the team, we kicked the fan down the road for a "possible" future payoff

you gonna cry on here if trey plays really well?
From the homepage article.

"And I think just watching him week after week, where he can go out there and try somebody's offense where a quarterback never leaves the pocket, and he's always trying to make every throw. Then you've got some weeks where he's playing a guy who's not going to throw it unless a guy is really open because if he's not really open, that quarterback that week is going to tuck it and run it.

"I think that's one of the cool things about Trey. He's got the skill set that he can give the defense both looks each week, where sometimes, our quarterback, if they don't have those skills, they can try to give them those looks, but it's not quite as realistic."

I do like this aspect of mirroring the opposing QB's we've faced. Calling their plays. Leading the offense. If it's a classic pocket passer, he stays in the pocket no matter what. If he's emulating the Waterbug QB's, he's elusive and off schedule. And it's OK to make mistakes.

If we hadn't drafted a QB, we'd being going into the playoffs with Nate Sudfeld as our QB now and Patrick Surtain or Slater isn't going to make that work out for us. It's also unlikely any other QB from this class would be able to take us much further this year as none of the rookie QBs have performed that well.

The only realistic option to give us a chance to compete for the Super Bowl this year would have been to trade for Stafford, but the book is still open on whether he's got what it takes to compete in the playoffs.

A team should take the QB they believe has the best chance to be a successful FQB for your team and lead them for the next 10+ years. Period.

Trading up for a FQB is a long term move, you don't make concessions and you don't punt if you truly believe in one of those kids.

Guy is already actively rooting for him to fail, so my guess is yes or he'll just vanish like a fart in the wind

Lance is still in uncharted territory so let it ride. I hope it goes right for the niners.

Because our 1st round picks have been so great under Lynch. Dude, we traded what could have been Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster to draft the guy with the highest ceiling. If it works out, sounds like a win to me.
