Mac Jones 2.55s with 114 drop backs
Davis Mills 2.61s with 82 drop backs
Trevor Lawrence 2.83s with 102 drop backs
Justin Fields 2.99s with 55 drop backs
Zach Wilson 3.11s with 62 drop backs
Trey Lance 3.38s with 22 drop backs https://t.co/r78fhiifkL
Yeah this isn't really telling anything is it? For all we know Jones can have 1-2 reads max per play on a 3 step drop vs a guy like Wilson or Lance scrambling to make something out of nothing etc.
The sample size is too small but his style of play ATM matches the rest of the mobile QB's, albeit, at the far right on the spectrum.
But in Kyle's offense, he's pretty standard around 2.5 to 2.65 since he's excellent on getting that first read open. Remember it takes 2 full seconds to execute a play action too so when you're averaging 2.5 to 2.6s averages, that gives you a half a second to plant and hit your first read the mass majority of the time.
That's why Kyle loves quick separators at the line of scrimmage. This is where Kyle and Lynch are complaining about Aiyuk IMHO.
Eventually Kyle will want Trey to trust those first reads too but will probably live with 2.75s given his mobility. And with mobile QB's that are higher in TTT, they almost always go deeper on those off schedule plays too which greatly increases their AIY.
In short, Kyle will want the best of both worlds. He'll want him on schedule as much as possible but if it's not there, go make something happen with his legs and arm off schedule. My guess is he'll end up around 2.75s TTT for his career under Kyle.
