Personally, I'd go with Lance, especially with how the defense Is playing too. Focus on Improving the run game and we could see a tough, competitive team like the 2019 one.

Agree, I'd go with Trey, but it's probably going to be Kyle favorite, Jimmy.

I think he'll go with Jimmy because Jimmy probably gives us the best chance to win right now and Shanahan trusts him more to execute the offense as designed. We'll see how it turns out.

If Jimmy aggravates that calf injury and has to miss time again, I think we'll probably just stick with Lance at that point as swapping QBs every few weeks is not good for the offense.

There are too many things to consider here and it's not so black and white like it is with other teams that draft a QB early.

In most cases the team sucks, there's no other good QB on the roster, and you gotta appease your fans. This wasn't our case though, since we looked like a good roster on paper and we have a QB that proved he can win games.

I had no problem sitting Lance for the whole year. That doesn't hurt him at all long term, even helps in some sense. And once they went with Jimmy in TC, it was obvious Jimmy isn't gonna get traded and no way do you pay a guy 25 mil to sit on the bench.

Now things have turned a bit sideways and it would be in the teams best interest to start Trey going forward. Jimmy just can't stay healthy and you can't keep switching back and forth between these two QBs bc the gameplans are so different for both. It affects the whole team chemistry, at least on offense when you have such different players playing QB.

Outside of Goatie, everybody knows that Jimmy is gone next year, so it's time to just go with Trey for the rest of year and deal with the growing pains now.

I don't for one second believe in the "hey we suck and have to appease to our fans at the cost of our rookie QB failing" stuff….That is not how it works and if a organization is willing enough to draft a QB early in hopes of developing/making the right moves to gtd success, what happens for one yr of a already s**tting team means nothing….NOT if the key to success is red shirting your QB (which I do not buy).

how does not developing for a full yr help him? What is he gaining by not playing football and getting next to no snaps from sept-Jan? What is he gaining by getting next to no snaps with the starts since May?

the over exaggeration of sitting a yr = success because of a couple past examples over the past two decades is wild in here.

I understand Jimmy starting because they thought this team was a SB roster and he gave them the best chance to win back in May. They made their bed with him and now have to deal with it.

my whole pt is Jimmy was done here the moment we drafted Lance, this FO messed up the whole process imo

This isn't a KC scenario. Jimmy G isn't alex Smith. They didn't just go 12-4 & win their division. KC didn't flirt with every possible QB in the off season to replace Smith.

I basically showed you examples where your question means nothing. Mahomes is still Mahomes whether he sat or not…you can't convince me otherwise. Reid played McNabb yr one all the same.

IF sitting a player meant success in the future then every single damn team would have benched their rookie…yet damn near all 1st rd pick QBs have played over the course of two decades at some pt yr1.

No you basically doubled down on sharing more of YOUR opinion as opposed to answering the question. I also didn't say sitting a player meant future success nor did I imply it.

You have failed to prove or show anything that supports him sitting a year is a wasted season and or that gets little to no development. And when presented with a player who says it helped them, you brush the players comments off. I think the player knows better as to whether it helped them or not.

And you've shown me no legit proof that supports sitting a QB is the way to develop a QB. You talk about great football minds says YET no one does it!

You mean the same player that said he couldn't read defenses and STILL won the MVP? That guy lol. Every player who's asked that question always says "it helped me prepare like a pro", players also say one of the most important things they can get is reps.

Our freaking HC said it's hard to get better at playing football, by not playing football. John Lynch said that Lance hasn't gotten damn near any snaps during the season (in practice) and how important those are for developing.

"The great news is that Trey's gotten a lot of valuable reps [this week]," Lynch shared. "I think that's the tough thing in this league. You're trying to develop Trey, but starters typically get 95 percent of the reps, if not more, in the NFL, so it's hard to get a backup reps. So, if anything good of this has come, Trey's got a bunch of reps, and he's really responded in good fashion."

so he's literally not getting any reps from Sept-Jan any people think a kid who's in desperate needs of reps is just gonna come into 2022 real to roll, give me a break.

A kid from Minnesota wearing an LA hat that matches his outfit isn't a Dodgers fan. 🙄

If Lance is good with the playbook does that mean we saw it on Sunday?

I was happy with his play but wonder what was behind the play calling.

I'm saying I don't think he's stupid and can't digest the playbook. Outside of some added elements in the run game, what was kyle running as far as passing plays go that were totally different?

the issue with the kid is the game is fast right now, windows are tight…getting no reps for half a yr isn't gonna help slow everything down for him. He's gotta get more confident in his reads (which will help with mechanics as well). IMO you get more confident by getting more game speed reps, seeing more coverages and just doing more….not watching more film and not throwing footballs.
