I'm not saying Lance is garbage, but that's Jimmy G throughout his entire career, an offense he runs scores more points than that in 35 out of 36 games. You cannot tell me that Lance gives us a better chance to win. Let's quit acting like jimmy G is just some bottom of the barrel starting option and we're just making a trade-off with Lance. This offense will score fewer points with Lance. I'm not blaming him for that. He's as young as Alex Smith was his rookie year and we all saw how rough that was. You're not gonna convince me that starting Lance from here on it is a decision based upon what gives us the best chance to win. If Kyle is making a decision based off anything else, yes, he is throwing in the towel on this season.

The end. You're just kidding yourself if you think Trey will put up more points. He's a rook he's going to leave points on the board like he did vs Arz left and right.

I'm fine going to him when the season is over but right now we're still in the mix. The team might not be a Super Bowl team with Jimmy but if we make the playoffs that's a big deal in establishing momentum.

How many points did HE actually leave on the board left and right?

Maybe the 4th and goal play where he should've extended the ball on 4th down. Maybe if he throws it to Mitchell it's a TD.

MAYBE the 3 and out after our turnover? Though no guarantee even if he hits Aiyuk we get points on that drive.

How did he leave points off the board like you say? Especially left and right?

Nah, I'm supposed to show every dropback or its not really "objective" or for every good play show a bad play.

But in all seriousness, I expect the good plays to be more on the good side than the bad plays on the bad - if that even makes sense. Like, the plays that are good are gonna be real good and bad aren't real bad.

Expect the tone of my review viedo to be, "here's what he did really well and we have to build off and here's what he needs to improve on and why"

Oh I know I'm just playing with ya

Look forward to it, we all know Lance isn't the QB Jimmy is right now as a passer/game manager. He shouldn't be he's not a 8 yr vet. BUT the kid has gotta play and I think he will as the season goes on. Fans can't expect him to magically be good come 2022, have it figured out while not playing legit football since 2019 at NDSU. That's not fair to him and this staff.

I don't know how Kittle/Warner/vets truly feel about Lance vs Jimmy. If they think Jimmy is the guy that gives them the best chance to win, then I'm hoping Kyle appeases them and gives Jimmy another shot at running the offense once he's healthy. If he gets it back on track, great. If Jimmy falters, then that's all the justification needed to move on from Jimmy and dedicating the rest of the season to Lance. "See, I gave Jimmy a chance and nothing has changed."
I get that they are pros and will fight for whoever is under center, but there were playoff expectations coming into 2021, let the #1 QB (Jimmy) see it through and leave no doubt in the players' minds that Jimmy is not the guy for the job before switching over to Lance full time. That's the approach I hope Kyle takes.

He gave Jimmy all of camp, 4 weeks and then he did whatever to his calf...how many more times do you give Jimmy a chance? We're in year 4 and his missed almost half his games. You got plenty of vets on this team that have seen this play out over and over. They all saw SF draft Lance and do everything in their power to move off Jimmy this off season. I would hope they'd realize this was a real possibly this yr unless everything was going perfectly...which it most certainly hasn't

I mean how many more games do you have to lose before you hand it off to the rookie? Are those vets gonna play just as hard after losing a bunch more games and for Lance? We will see, I'm assuming based off Kyle's comments he will go with Jimmy and I think for the most part it's a mistake.

You make good points, I can't deny that, about how much more patience do we have to give Jimmy? My answer is "one more time", NY. Give Jimmy one more chance to move the offense once he's healthy. Trust me, I get the benefit of starting Lance the rest of the way. I just want to let the whole team see one last time if Jimmy can get it done. Because his last semi-healthy drive, he drove the offense in for a TD (Dwelley catch vs SEA).

This reminds me of nights where I play COD way too many times, and I say "one more" to my squad about 17-18 times.

It's the reason casinos nearly always win. Gamblers keep chasing it when they lose and don't know when to quit while they're ahead.

If we continue to lose with JG, then I would be perfectly fine with moving to Lance and let the kid takes his lumps. How many times have I said it but you keep skimming over it like I'm digging a foxhole or something. You fight to make the playoffs until you're eliminated. Until that point - you keep fighting on and you go with who gives you the best chance to win. Don't know why this is such a crazy idea. If we get eliminated from the playoffs - sure, go ahead and start Lance, you got nothing to lose. Let the kid go play and see what he can do.

All of that sounds perfectly reasonable to me. This is my thought on it, though, and was curious how you see it. If we were to keep Lance in, then by seasons end I feel like he would give us a better chance at making a run in the playoffs. It's looking more and more like we're not winning the division. I think we have a decent shot at a wild card with Jimmy or Lance. So why not give Lance as much experience as possible between now and then? Regardless of how it ends, next year Lance would be able to take over and we'd be a better team from week 1. If he doesn't take over until next year, I feel like we will be in the same spot we're in right now.

I don't think you'll see a ton of week-week improvement. Just seems that rookie QB's have a real slow development in season and then take-off during the off-season, unless you're Cam Newton.

He needs to digest the verbiage, the playcalls, the key reads on each play vs each look - that takes repetition with position coaches and watching film - you or otherwise, over and over and over again. He's got a bunch of film of Jimmy G showing how to spot the key read, look the defender off and make the throw, absorb that over and over again until it's routine and he's not just trying to remember where his receiver is going on the play.

Trevor lawrence looks about the same week 5 as he did week 1. Alex Smith looked about the same his first start as he did start 11. I just don't see the proof in history to show me that a rookie is going to be miles ahead week 17 than they were week 5. Too little time during the week.

Do we need him to be miles ahead though? Just need everyone to tighten up a little and execute better. He wasn't putting the ball in harms way outside of one bad throw, despite facing a top 10 defense.
lol Trey's pass chart is the complete opposite of Jimmy's.

This is where the BTT thing makes no sense. Soooo, thr Throw to Deebo between 2 defenders vs PHI wasn't a BTT? The Throw to Deebo over an underneath defender, in front of a safety with a tiny window wasn't a BTT?

The Throw to Aiyuk posted above is the same play as the Aiyuk TD vs GB, Jimmy threw the ball earlier so the CB had less time to contest, ones a BTT, one isn't. So, why should I care about this stat?
Lmao these new analytic dorks making up new qualifiers and cherry picking info to fit their narrative. I'm not defending Jimmy, but this s**t is out of control.

BiG tImE thRoW rAtE f**k out of here.

I mean there isn't anything better for a QB than to play game speed football, make the mistakes and learn from it. Give him film of him actually playing football. I don't get how people in here don't think this will help him get better? I bet the Bills, Texans, and LAC think their better now because they ended up going that route.

Whatever with his mechanics, that is s**t you deal with in the off season. Right now playing is the best thing for him, is the best thing for the team? Well that's up to the coach BUT he has to know once that pick was made that will be part of the process.

Bet they don't have the balls to make up a chart for Garoppolo's date night to f**k ratio.

There were definitely a number of plays with receivers/backs wide open that he completely overlooked. This is expected for a rookie, especially in his first game.
