I agree with you that Lance does not have the timing down on shorter rhythm passes. Two of his blocks appeared to come on short passes where he was late with the throw. That will only come with experience.
The game plan went out the window when they were constantly getting flags. I've never seen so many holding callings in my life. Hard to get the running game and PA going when it's 1st-20
Some of that is on trey running instead of dumping the ball off. That comes with time, but those are the growing pains you're going to be dealing with with a rookie QB and a raw, athletic rookie QB. Did you expect something different?
Go look at holding penalties for 2020 - it tends to show a trend. The teams near the bottom in holding calls tend to be teams with running and mobile QB's, the teams at the bottom had pocket QB's playing. It's not every team and every time, but it shows a trend.
It's also why I don't give two craps about air yards. Trey would run for 8 yards in situations where Jimmy might dump it off at 4 and the receiver gets 4 or 6 or 12.
I still have yet to see any correlation between IAY and wins or even points scored. It's really as simple as, we need to score more points. We can't put up 10 a game and expect to win. I don't give 2 craps about 2022 right now. I might not be alive during that season so I don't really care. I'll root for 2022 when it gets here.
