True or False....the QBs having the better seasons are the ones in the upper right quadrant? You dont need to answer that. Its unquestionably true.

. So, they both suck?Took a lot at how QBs have graded under pressure versus when kept clean (the latter of which has been found to be much more stable + predictive going forward).

It's cool that PFF has made all this available! pic.twitter.com/WTSKpSc2Uk
Charted from PFF grades so take it with a grain of salt.

Read up! Trey was brought in to be Steve Young 2.0
Good time to bring my Steve Young article back. It focused on the intricacies of developing an athletic QB in the pocket. This is what the 49ers are striving to do. It'll drive Shanahan crazy if Lance tucks the ball and runs out of the offensive structurehttps://t.co/vycBH67c32
— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) October 4, 2021
I remember that article. He made the same point years before about Kaepernick and the need to exhaust the play before looking to run. It took years of Young having that hammered in to him. That, essentially, his 12 yard runs weren't something to be proud of when he had a receiver open 10 yards down field because he was simplifying the defenses job. But, on those occasions where the defense took everything away he could still run. IF Trey is Young 2.0, we should all be beyond happy. Young was always my favorite 49er.
If Trey is half the player Steve Young was then we are set for the next 15 years
Shanahan said Lance has a legitimate chance to start against the Cardinals. He will come in Wednesday for the first practice of the week and be ready to go, if needed.

Sigh this isn't what we need TBH. We need certainty that Trey will start so the team can prep accordingly and he will be for sure ready. Having this uncertainty if Jimmy is available just clouds things. Even if he's good to go, you know damn well he's not going to perform well if it's indeed true that it is the reason why he played like crap yesterday.
Really good news for the 49ers on Jimmy Garoppolo and Trent Williams. Didn't seem to be any optimism yesterday that BOTH might be able to play against Arizona
— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) October 4, 2021
If Garoppolo is healthy enough to play effectively, don't expect Shanahan to deviate. 49ers have dual track short/long-term plan going w JG/Lance. Hard to see an injury hiccup derailing that process. Perhaps health concern will encourage more Lance snaps (which was original plan)

"He got hurt sometime in the first half," the coach said. "He said he got stepped on. I'm not sure which play. But he played for a while with it. He didn't think it was that bad at the time. Then about a minute before halftime ended, and trying to get it going, he just couldn't push off it. So, right at the end of halftime, we realized he couldn't go."

Eli Manning one two SBs on crazy throws downfield. There's a balance to all of it and right now these team wasn't balanced at all.
Look at this fun stat
The 49ers have been called for a league leading 8 defensive pass interference penalties this season
— Jordan Elliott (@splash_cousin) October 4, 2021
Over the last two games, the 49ers have given up four automatic first downs on DPI calls that have gone for yardage gains of
25
32
24
23
All four were on 3rd down as well
Why can't we get in on that action?
