I swear some are trying to pigeonhole Trey into a pistol QB.

If you watch his big plays from Preseason, it wasn't from Pistol.

I think we just saw some Pistol early on when Trey came in, was because it was a last second thing where they all found out Trey had to go out there. And there were reports of headset issues.

I don't feel it's a two different scheme thing when it comes to Jimmy and Trey.... and I don't feel a unique set of plays, are required for Trey to be successful in this offense.

Who said anything about being a pistol QB? Kyle most certainly isn't gonna call the same exact plays for Trey as he does for a 4 yr vet here. He's not ready for all that...he's a pup who's played little football compared to every NFL QB.

What's wrong with making s**t a little easier for him at the start of his career? Why make him stand in there are go through full field reads? Move the pocket, run the s**t out the ball, rollouts/PA easy stuff...then incorporate more as the game slows down for him.

I was talking about Biderman (going off the words he chose to use in the tweet) and some other posters from the Gameday Thread.

That underlined part isn't much different than what we mostly ask Jimmy to do. But yes that is what I want. No cute stuff.

So, Jimmy's 1st action with us was against Seattle when Hoyer got hurt. Came in and threw a TD. Then for the rest of the season, our offense was on a completely different level. Let's just hope history repeats.

This is on point. At this point in his career, Trey isn't the type of QB that dinks and dunks down the field to move the chains and keep sustained drives going. He's more playmaker than QB right now, and Kyle is going to have to take the good with the bad. In other words, Trey will generate a lot more explosive plays than Jimmy, but he'll also miss the layups to sustain drives and move the chains.

But the way the league has trended, explosive plays >>>>>>>> sustained drives. Create turnovers+score points is the eminent winning recipe in contemporary football.

He wasn't going to prep two starters each week so the team wasn't on the same page. Its Jimmy until it isn't. When Jimmy is healthy enough to go again, he'll either be back starting, or Lance will have permanently taken the job.

Lance hasn't been ready to start, so he wasn't going to get starter reps in practice.

You can have a QB battle and get guys equal snaps, especially for a young QB who desperately NEEDS snaps. We have a QB who's be hurt by week 4 3 out of his 4 yrs here, now you have the greenest of the green QBs who you spent up for thrown into the league without a ton of practice reps/live reps.

It was dumb to think Jimmy was gonna play a full season...he's shown he can't. It was dumb to pay him what they did...you had fans saying Jimmy is the starting QB until he gets hurt lol. WTF is that? they knew he would get hurt and still wanted to give him $26M?

Once they gave up all those draft picks for Lance it was clear as day who the guy was gonna be...they did everything in their power to move off Jimmy all off season. Now they won't get a bag of chips for him and all those vastly important snaps from mini camp/OTAs to week 4 are wasted.

It's hard to "be ready to start" when you don't get time to play and learn too begin with.

Chris' thread here sums it up pretty well...

This Is why I thought we should played Lance as much as possible though pre-season. The more reps, the better he'll be going forward.

Biederman is a media vulture fool. Try to gin up clicks with phony narratives. Trey not ready for nfl. Period. Getting extra reps not gonna change that. Having a busy day at mike mccarthy qb school will start to change that. Also lose some muscle up top.

Yesterday was sandlot football play after play. Shut up chris biederman. Not helping trey. Not helping niners.i

There's no exaggeration. Try looking at it from others pov that have argued with these guys about Jimmy hitting Deebo and then them claiming it was a terrible pass then 2 weeks later completely flip flopping and saying the exact same thing we were saying about Jimmy. He put it up there for a td. Or saying that Jimmy hitting Deebo for a huge gain was just luck. Or hating on Jimmy for a check down on 3rd and 15 yet didn't say a word with lance on 3rd and 5.

were you part of these discussions? These guys literally flooded the Jimmy thread non-stop with negativity. Suddenly a slight under throw is no big deal. Suddenly mis-throws are acceptable.

iff topic kind of but I won't even get started on their crush of rival QBs. I don't see them drooling over MVP Stafford this week.

The hypocrisy is frustrating and I'll leave it at that.

If you think this is the same scenario, I dont know what to tell you.

It was except one guy was covered the other had nobody even close to him.

"It was except..."

Thanks for confirming it wasnt.

Great input. By all means explain what the harder throw was instead of "no". Or not.

Great input? You literally said it was "the same except"....if there is an except, that means it wasnt the same.

Now you want me to explain which was the harder throw, as if further confirming that they were not the same.

How stupid and petty. That your point?!

same scenario. A long pass to the sideline. One was open as open can get, the other covered.

Funny, Shanahan must think he is, or else he wouldn't have gone into the season with Trey as the only backup to a glass QB.

I mean you throw a ball 20+ yards downfield it's either a catch or a PI 70% of the time now. Perfect example is Murray in AZ, they're spreading it all out giving him space to extend plays and chucking it downfield all game.

I think SF will run the ball even more with Lance and keep things easy for him, either way people should have seen this coming...not sure why Kyle thought otherwise.

Highly disagree. He should keep lifting weights. Also ignore everything that the Strength and Conditioning staff recommends. They're in over their heads.

that's what you got from that?

So he's got too much muscle lol at 225lbs yet we got Allen/Herbert rolling around at a solid 240.

Trey need to play football to get better at football...extending plays and using his skill set WILL move the ball downfield and help him while he learns the nuances of playing the position.

No one should expect him to sit in the pocket and rock a bunch of straight drop backs/timing routes at this stage of his career. That comes with playing football, not mike McCarthy QB school or whatever.

I thought Chris Biederman was smarter than this. I guess not. Still better than the Cohn's and Kurtenbach I suppose. Seems like Maiocco, Barrow and Cam Inman are about the only decent guys we have covering the team at the moment. Madden on Niners Wire is okay too but it seems like everyone else is taking their lead from all the talking head types on TV where I guess it pays to be strident and annoying while constantly trying to interject themselves into the center of the story.
