It's good that he recognizes he has a lot to learn from a technique standpoint. Whether he can improve in that area remains to be seen. At worst, he's quick/fast enough to chase down any QB that is running away from Bosa.

Plus that extra step or two that W9 affords him to generate speed to power, I'm hoping this pushes AA far more inside this year esp. when playing more mobile QB's or teams who can stretch in the running game well.

I agree with you...a lot of unknowns after Bosa and he's gotta be slowly worked back into football shape. An ACL for an ER is no joke. It's going to take time.

Yup, it wasn't a normal ACL either I think their were a couple other ligaments as well....sounds like his rehab is going very very good BUT there's not reason to throw him out there 80% of the time his first yr back.

I love our DT rotation, our EDGE group is pretty subpar IMO.

I'd love to add Houston/Ingram or possibly Vernon (depending on how he's recovered) to the rotation.

Yeah, so much of his game at ER is anchoring, lateral movement and bending with speed. That's a lot of stress on the knees. But he's a grinder. Nobody is going to out work him. It'll be on the S&C staff to set up a plan for him. That might scare me a bit. LOL

6'2 250 lbs tiny?🤔

Dee Ford is very similar in size

No other ligament damage. There was some additional cartilage damage, but didn't sound too bad the way the Dr described it

Yes, 6'1", 240 lbs is tiny at the position. Those are his numbers from his pro day. He's smaller than Dee Ford, who came in at 6'2", 252 lbs at the combine.

It doesn't matter. I referenced his size to put in perspective how strong he is. Dude is a mini bull. The fact that he's so short also gives him a leverage advantage once he gets underneath tackles. He's a total mismatch for a guy like McFloppy.

I assume AA will be back at edge on base downs. So we won't get much production there. And like you said we can't put a full load back on Bosa this year. DR gonna have to scheme up more blitz packages with the db's and lb's in my opinion.

I'm fine with AA on base, he's good at setting the edge. He's gotta play inside on passing downs but I don't think he will as much with who we currently have out there.

@ lamontb's point about basically betting on Ebukam and Key for edge help; just the optimist counterpoint is that Hyder ended up better than anyone but an optimist would have predicted too... Ebukam has the athleticism for sure to be a problem off the edge, and we have coaches that have to do their job as far as improving his technique. (Also having Bosa a damn master of hand technique giving him pointers won't hurt. Also Ebukam noting himself that he knows he has to improve on that is a good sign).

Continuing with my typical optimistic POV -- even if we only want to give Bosa 80% of the snaps at one edge, that means we just need 120% of snaps from the three other edge guys (20% spelling Bosa and 100% of the edge opposite him in pass rush situations) -- IE, between Ford, Ebukam and Key we just need them to average 40% of the snaps (at a decent to good level) to have a good pass rush including Bosa, our DTs, blitzes etc. Just an optimists POV, lol. It's not like Ebukam or Key or Ford has to beat his man every time; he just has to be PART of an effective rush group. Maybe we're not top 5 like we were in '19 but I think we still have a pretty good shot at being top 10 in that category.

All that being said I do agree with you NY that I'd be happy to see another Edge like Houston or Ingram added like you said

I need help being optimistic. This could very well happen and we end up in good shape.

most of our push is going to come up the middle making it easier for Ebu, Key, Ford and Bosa

Still can't believe he died of the damn virus but this nails #74 to a tee

If he doesn't get 10+ sacks, this team is in trouble.

So if he gets 9.5 it's a huge fail? See how silly that sounds?

I agree that it's 10 sacks or we might as well tank
