You don't draft a QB at #3 that can only make plays within the system.

Why not, if the system is so good its being implemented by so many other NFL teams?

What other teams?
How does Jones arm strength compare to Bradys?

Joe was 18-34 for 233 yds, 1 TD, and 2 INTs in a 23-0 game.

Jim McMahon didn't play in that game.

Good point. I think Jim was injured- maybe that's why he didn't play. Point in was trying to make is that even without a top flight arm, Joe was able to beat a top flight defense with his arm anyway. This was with the artic winds blowing and the temperature sub-feeezing against the Best defense in the NFL that year.

now or peak? Because it is better than now, but worse than peak Brady arm. That being said comparing Mac Jones to Brady in any other way is a joke.

Jets? Rams? Green Bay? You just don't draft a QB and come up with an offensive system after the fact. Usually you have a system, draft the best QB for your system, and tweak the system after the fact to adjust it to your new QB.

Jets are drafting Wilson (by all accounts) who has one of the best arms in the draft.

Rams felt the need to get rid of inferior arm talent (Goff) and bring in Stafford.

Packers have one of the most talented passers to ever throw a football.

Mac Jones will be on par with none of these guys as far as making plays when the system breaks down.
I changed my mind. It's going to be Mac Jones.

Rams didn't get rid of Goff because of his lack of arm talent but because of his lack of what he's got going between the ears. You can't be slow footed and a complete dummy too and that dude left so many plays out on the field because he can't read defenses.

Who cares about 37 years ago? The QBs playing now are completely different overall then the QBs playing back then...the game is different, the rules are different, the kids that are learning to play the position with all these QB camps are NOW elite level athletes along with great football minds. The players you are playing now are bigger/faster/stronger. Coaches are actually playing to these new age QBs strengths.

Arm talent matters...Mac simply doesn't have it compared to the rest of the NFL QBs. His reluctance to throw to the outermost receiver in trips (outside the wide side in college). You can see when he gets off his base and tries to make a throw the velocity isn't there...He HAS to step into this throws to get whatever velocity he has. He has to reset his feet and you can't do that all the time... You are NOT gonna be able to just sit back in the pocket and pick apart a secondary every week. These isn't a QB throwing competition tossing the ball in nets.

End of the day you have 2 other QBs that are stupid smart, play mostly from within the pocket and have other attributes that Mac simply doesn't have in his tool belt. His margin for error is very small.

That's just your opinion. I respect it. But I disagree with it.

I think Mac has a good strong (not the strongest by any means) arm and will be fine in the NFL. Arm talent doesn't matter as much as intangibles for a QB in the NFL. His pocket movement and feet are good enough to be able to have good accuracy at all levels of the field and all areas.

I trust Chris Simms and Kurt Warners evaluations more than a lot of armature fans opinions, including mine. And they both say Mac is a first round talent. That's what Kyle needs. A QB that he can be confident in and work with. That's not to say Fields and Lance can't play in Kyles scheme, of course they can and also be good QBs for Kyle too.

Fat Andy's always liked athletic QBs, and took him a decade or more for him to win with an atheltic QB. He couldn't do it with McNabb. He finally did it with Mahomes. Kyles always liked pocket QBs, we'll see if he's changed colors, everything though says no. I'm personally fine with it, because if you surround a good QB with a good players he'll win super bowls (mobile or immobile).

How do you *know?* Thats just another guess just like mine, who is an armature fan. Do you think you know Kyles system more than Kyle himself? Again you are assuming Mac is the pick, do you even *know* for sure if Mac is the pick?

If I had to make a comparison. I would probably say, Matt Ryan. I don't like comparisons though. I could say Mac is the next Tom Brady or Drew Brees. You could say Mac Is the next Kirk Cousins or Jimmy G. You could say Lance/FIelds are Mahomes or Josh Allen. I Could say Lance/FIelds are the next Cam or Kap. End of the day they are all their own players. The fact is right now there are just so many things that Mac is better at than the other two. When It comes to playing QB.

So What makes Mac Jones "Special"? What makes him worthy of the # 3 overall pick? He is an elite processer. He has great footwork. He has great pocket awareness. He has great pocket manipulation skills. Gets the ball out of his hands quickly. Feels the rush and throws well while being pressured. A better passer rating than both Fields and Lance When being pressured. Protects the football and rarely takes sacks. Throws a great deep ball. A better passer rating throwing deep than both Lance and Fields. Throws with great vision and anticipation. Is consistently accurate on all short, medium, and long passes. That is what makes him special.

Not to mention the statistical season Mac Had. . A all-time college record-breaking 77% completion percentage- 4500 yards passing- 11.2 avg. per pass - 44 TD to 4 INT ratio. All this against an All-SEC schedule. Ending in an undefeated season and a national championship trophy.
Mac Jones vs all other QB's.
QBR when Pressured- Mac is 1st
QBR when blitzed- Mac is 1st
deep-ball completion- Mac is 1st
Inside/Outside pocket QBR- Mac is 1st
11-20 yards outside the numbers- Mac is 1st
11-20 yards off-target percentage- Mac is 2nd lowest

I am not sure what more Mac could have done to make people like him as a prospect. Everyone can go chasing rainbows and unicorns. Trying to find the QB who can run like VIck. Has the Arm talent of Mahomes. Plays from the pocket like Peyton Manning. Who has the Qb Awareness of Brady. Everyone wants to go chasing hoping they somehow can have everything, when there is a proven great QB IMO staring them all in the face.

Mac Jones' all-time college record-breaking 77% completion percentage where he broke NFL great Colt McCoy's completion percentage

Yeah first of all, Mac could've closed his eyes and just thrown the ball up in the air and his all-world receivers would have come down with it. Second of all, most of his plays were at the line of scrimmage or just beyond. YAC
What I wanna know, is how is Mac Jones all that different from Jimmy G??? I feel like we mortgaged the farm for the same guy we already have.

I am praying that he isn't.
Serious problems guys. Sounds like we definitely have a head coach who can't see past his ego. God Dammit
