if he's a better version of Jimmy: more accurate, better deep ball, better pocket skills - that's like a top 10 QB right there

When Jimmy is healthy, he's a top 10 NFL QB.

Jones has a lot to prove. He was on the 1994 DAL Cowboys of NCAA. All he had to do was Troy Aikman it.
Mac Montana. Just can't come to grips with this turd at 3d pick.

That's true. He had some insane WRs, however on film I see him throwing to those guys in stride on the regular. That's something Jimmy couldn't do consistently.

And you don't give up 3 1sts for a top 10 QB in the league, who's basically maxed out. The goal should be top 5. He will never be that.

Jimmy had a great deep ball in college and moved around like a boss...s**t is different in the NFL. Arm talent matters.

Yeah. They should definitely take Fields or Lance and adjust to them. But if they take Jones, he's still going to be good.

Kirk Cousins good, maybe. Not two additional first rounders good.

Exactly. You don't trade all those firsts for "good." Why is this so difficult to understand?

This might be a difficult concept for some of you to understand, but there's actually just as much, if not more of a chance that Lance and Fields are just "good" or worse. Historically, qb prospects rarely overcome their mental / processing deficits.

So Fields and Lance have "mental/processing deficits" and Jones is the "smartest QB ever interviewed."

This is some low key racist b******t. The truth is we have no idea how any of these QB's will react to NFL game speed and decision making. They've all shown that ability in college. What we can measure without question is physical traits and playmaking ability.

Wow. Ok. No. I'm not being racist. Thanks for
1. jumping to hyperbole, by claiming that i said that Jones is "the smartest qb ever" (I didn't).
2. Calling me a racist for trying to make the observation that fields and Lance have some deficits with respect to their ability to play the QB position due to their inexperience and the freaking tape that they've made.

do you think I actually believe that their race has anything to do with that?

im not interested in engaging further with someone who is going to debate in bad faith.

I didn't call you a racist. Your take is racist. Because saying that Fields and Lance have mental/processing deficits while is not at all based on their play or decision making. The numbers and metrics don't even back that up. The film definitely does not back that up. Whereas Jones actually has made awful decisions, like driving drunk and wearing black face. It's just amazing to me the pass that white QB prospects get.

"I didn't call you racist, you're take is racist."

buddy, that's calling me racist. Secondly, I'm not sure what film you've watched, but the film does back that up. There is film out there of fields not always recognizing where to go with the ball. As for Lance, there is film out there, or rather, a lack of film out there, since he's such a young, inexperienced prospect. Saying that either of them need to get better at certain aspects of playing the position is not racist. Saying that they can't get better at those aspects because of their race is racist. At no point did I say that Lance or Fields were stupid. I've even acknowledged the amazing accolades both Lance and Fields have received specifically for their acumen and intelligence.

one is not the other. Next time, try using the logical, smart part of your brain when you are formulating a rebuttal to someone's argument.

Yes, Jones had made some bad decisions. I'm not here to excuse them. I'm not here to life him up over fields and Lance. I'm simply pointing out that he is undervalued by the vast majority of this board because he doesn't immediately make people's collective pee pees get hard with his jamarcus russel rocket arm. He gets unfairly ripped as being a fatass because of one fairly old photo of him, when the reality is that he's actually a string bean with a tennis background. Go look at any semi recent photo or video of him from within the past few months and the dude is lanky

If you don't think there is a difference between being a racist and saying something racist, then you have a lot to learn about racism and communication in general.

There are examples of every QB who's ever played "not recognizing where to go with the ball," including Jones. So why characterize Fields and Lance in that manner but not Jones? Do you think that Fields and Lance more often than not don't recognize where to go with the ball?

Ding ding ding. Jones excels at reading and manipulating defenses and making the correct decision. Lance is alright while Fields has it struggles.

Lol. Manipulating defenses by throwing it short more than any of the three, and letting his first round receivers do the rest. Yeah really takes a genius to do that.

He executed the game plan in dominant fashion. Short passes were right on receivers where they could gain yac. Shotgun snaps were generally flawless. Put Justin or Lance in that offense and it most likely takes a step back.

If that's all you want you don't have to spend 3 1sts that's the whole issue here. I think whatever QB that goes to SF will be okay/good...like Jimmy. Some have massive ceilings and one does not

First off how do you know what he'll be or won't be? Stupid statement that's impossible to backup. Secondly if you get a top ten qb on a rookie deal for five years you most certainly give up three firsts. They'll be towards the end of the round the next two years anyways if he hits.

Mac was not a hooper nor was he a track athlete. Joe Montana has amongst the top ten amongst NFL QBs during his day in terms of athleticism. Joe would move like Aaron Rodgers did in his prime today in fact

Joe was in hs and played basketball in the 70's. Bob Cousy isn't a hooper anymore.

Jimmy doesn't have as nice of a pocket as these college QB's. My biggest complaint with Jimmy is health....I've been fairly pleased with his performance when healthy. I was completely on board with going all-in for a QB like Deshaun Watson(before massage-gate).

Giving up as much as they did for an unproven college QB is incredibly risky though. They must be convinced the guy they're drafting is a future star. We'll see....proof is in the pudding.

Isnt that what Jimmy gets torn apart for? Just all these short passes that the WR turn into big gains.

Well if Kyle is this arrogant at QB why would he be any different at OL...gonna be the same s**t as Jimmy. You know it NC

I'm certainly not disputing it. We're learning quickly about his blind spots and lead as a personnel guy. There's some strengths and certainty some big weaknesses.

I don't know what Jimmy gets torn apart for as I'm only here for the draft. I believe they're moving on from him due to inability to stay on the field as much as anything else. His play was also never amazing. $25m is a lot of your salary cap for a qb that can't stay healthy and doesn't elevate your team.
