I don't know why he doesn't have a thread already but along with Trask, if the 49ers were to draft a QB, I think he is a much more realistic option than guys like Fields and Wilson that are likely to go well before the 49ers pick. Mac Jones isn't as dynamic as Tua and he doesn't have the same ceiling but he's shown very good progress as a quarterback. He's a nice fit for a WCO or timing based passing offense, reasonably decisive and accurate, quick release, not the most mobile guy out there but able to avoid pressure adequately and he's improved his deep passing among other areas. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on. I do think his arm has more zip than Trask's and he's a little less hesitant to just let it rip but like Trask, he's also surrounded by a considerable amount of top notch talent on that offense so you wonder how much of a benefit that is providing him with overall. It's not hard for me to get, it's why my preference is Fields. All I'm saying is that many are acting like dude is a scrub when he's clearly not.

Bad for a 3rd overall pick. If you could right now take Kirk Cousins at #3? I know Shanahan would. But would you? Knowing he has 1 postseason win in 9 seasons & a .500 career record.

I don't mind him being boring. What I mind is that we could have done a draft deal deal and got this dude for a lot lees in draft pick compensation. I know we can't be this stupid to do what no other team has done and give up all this to draft Mac. I am good with Mac but only at market rate. I am not OK with overpaying for him

Over pay is only your opinion. You never know how teams value players and if you really want a guy you go and get him. The Giants drafting Daniel Jones is a good example. No one saw him going that early. If you were a team that really liked him as well and thought he would fall to you, you missed out because you thought you could wait.

If they take Mac at 3 I would suggest they believe Mac can be superior to Cousins.
