I do think Mac leads in the processing category. I really believe that. I think - from a processing standpoint - the other two take a backseat to Mac. I still have it Fields>Mac (almost practically even overall) and then distant third is Lance.
If you watch enough of Jones....you really can see a lot of stuff the 49ers have been missing for a very long time. The quick reads, the manipulating the defense with his eyes....that stuff is what we were seriously wanting with both Smith and Kap.
Jones should be in the top QB talks.
Some one had said if Jones is the Brees or Brady of the group, Fields was the Steve Young. Man i can see that....
I can really see a Steve Young in fields.
I think Jones has an advantage in ball placement, defense manipulation, and release and Fields has an advantage in footwork, velocity and mobility. Both are pretty darn accurate. When i see Fields effortlessly move around it reminds of Bill Walsh talking about the massive advantage in getting back in your drop quickly, the SOLE REASON he drafted Joe Montana.
I am glad its not my choice to make. I really like Jones the QB, I think he is the best QB....but i really REALLLLLY have character concerns with him.
Fields on the other hand is so darn likable. He is charismatic and seems like a good dude. You cant help but root for the guy, if we had to start a QB this year its jones all the way for me...but if we are sitting a guy behind Jimmy G anyway.....well...damn.... Fields really could be Steve Young 2.0.
I would probably lean Jones...but i am very happy its not my choice. I am very happy the 49ers get one of them tho.
