Luck, Mahomes & maybe Burrow are the only "franchise QB" you listed.

The rest are just very good starters who are capable of winning a SB. They aren't carrying any team for a sustained time and can do so with plug and play supporting casts

Well I think Allen and Jackson will continue to have success as long as they play in the correct systems. Herbert is every bit the potential franchise QB Burrow is. Watson is 100% a franchise QB and I'll gladly be wrong that Murray is a franchise QB.

Have to agree with Hysterikal. Herbert definitely has been showing the potential to be a FQB in the NFL for a long time. Watson is most definitely a franchise player, but he's just surrounded by crappy coaches and a defense that lacks top talent.

If the 49ers don't go QB this year, hopefully they'll get one in the 1st next year. Shough from Oregon looks promising, could be Herbert 2.0. He's got a huge arm, mobility, and throws deep pretty well (but can improve obviously).

Yea Watson is the man. He's got a horrible o line that has the poor guy getting killed out there, and the play calling doesn't do much to help. He at least had one of the best WR duos (whenever fuller was healthy) but no longer even has either of those guys . Dude is gonna have some serious back pains from trying to carry that team.

Unless we go on some ridiculous run to close the season, I think this is our chance to get a top young QB. We might be picking in the low to mid teens and there are 5 known QBs with serious potential.

If we get all our stars and jimmy back we will be right back in contention in 2021 picking in the 20s. Far out of reach of a top prospect. Getting in that death cycle many franchises get in of having an average QB that can't get you over the hump unless absolutely everything else is perfect with the team. They're good enough to keep the top QB prospects out of reach but not good enough to put the team on their back.

He's only really comfortable throwing 10-12 yards and under inside the numbers.

This team, imo, is in dire need of a QB upgrade.

Of course I watched them. Few and far between are performances like that from him. If he threw like that consistently on a week to week basis we wouldn't be having these conversations.

My definition of Good is franchise QB. Which in the past 10 years with 30 QBs taken and only 8 being good. Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Watson, Murray and Luck. I don't consider Newton, Goff, Wentz or Mayfield good.

Ah. Well, of those who are good, it appears that 8 are first round picks. Moreover, they are all RECENT first round picks, and that is not an coincidence. It is folly to group the failures of ten years ago with the success of four because the NFL game has evolved to be more friendly to the college game, affording young QBs an better track to develop. In short, I say it is LESS risk to draft an first round QB than it was ten years ago.



The three you don't think are good (whim I would say are as good or better than Jimmy) are also first round picks. There appears to be far fewer busts with first round QBs in the last five seasons than the last ten.

Of those 8 he listed, 100% are clearly better than Jimmy and came at over ten million cheaper for four seasons.

Not gonna be able to have all our stars back with the cap space in 2021 and Jimmy's current contract...that's part of the problem

The cost changes. The team we would have to trade with (Bengals) probably want a top tackle prospect and they won't be around in the mid first
