Good post - describes Jennings well, and especially the bold. For all of the above reasons, hope the Niners can come to some kind of longer-term agreement with him that makes sense for both sides.
I like Jennings and have always thought they should have extended him rather than Aiyuk, when they probably could have gotten him for a reasonable price. However, with that being said, it's worth noting that in one of JonnyDel's videos he pointed out that almost half of the interceptions Jones and Purdy threw this season came when they were targeting Jennings. I don't know what that means exactly, but I think it's an interesting stat. Combine that with the occasional, noteworthy drops and what we can assume his asking price will be and it becomes kind of difficult to envision him coming back. At $12-15 million a year, it would be worth it. I suspect he's looking for something like $20 million.
Jennings is not a star #1 or #2, but he's a top-end #3. That said, he's gonna cost too much. Jennings has had some bobbles turn into picks, but he's also had some bad routes turn into picks. I think we need to invest in more speed because JJ is never gonna be a take-the-top off type of receiver.
Let Cowing compete with whoever else we can bring in this off-season. Cowing needed to just learn the offense in year one, and like Ricky, got unlucky with injuries in year two. Both have a chance to show why we drafted them two years ago going into next season.
