Quite honestly, this should be in NinerTalk.
Very few people like Alex exist in this world today...an inspiration to all.

I wouldn't be mad at that. It should be required watching. Man my heart ached for his wife. Difficult watch for sure.

Should all former 9er post stay in ninertalk? I think they should. Still a former 9er. If no one cares it will get forgotten quick.

I think mods should wait until after retirement, and then they should move former Niners players threads back to Ninertalk.
Alex is a hell of a guy. Crazy how the doctor literally suggested amputation and he still wants to play. Mad respect for his grind.

That leg looks like something done with special effects in a war movie where a guy gets hit with shrapnel. It's one of the worst injuries I've seen in my 65 years of watching football. Napolean McCallum had a really bad one against the Niners that pretty much ended his career. It broke bones and tore ligaments but I never saw the images of the leg afterwards so I don't know if it was any worse than Alex.

Looked like someone put some Baby Rays BBQ sauce on his leg

For real. You'd have to be inhuman not to get choked up.
It almost made me consider his medical experience here in SF with his misdiagnosis...then flash forward to now: "Whatever the MD says, I'm doing the opposite." And it worked out.

Some athletes just resonate more than others, and it goes way beyond their play. I've loved the Niners my entire life, and we've had a bunch of elite players but this dude is in my top three favorite (not best) Niner players
Humble as f**k, never talked s**t even when it would have been warranted, doesn't have a social media because he knows how pathetic "fans" can be, ultimate teammate, respectful, and when I thought he was one of the all time biggest busts in nfl history he persevered
Perseverance and toughness embodies this guy. He's a competitor through and through, just not brash about it. He doesn't need over the top fan admiration or love
He has made a s**t load of money, but he has remained so humble and grateful. He deserves to be blessed with a beautiful wife and family. His wife is down af for him.
That special definitely hit home. If you got little kids, maybe a bit more. He couldn't play with them actively for over a year. Man, that would be tough as hell. He was nonfunctional basically. After the surgery his leg didn't even look real. Seems like he always kept a positive attitude
I got a man crush. Pin this thread. Make a website to have Jed bring this dude back in some capacity. He's a Niner, not a Chief

Unfortunately, I think Alex will identify more as a Chief and "officially" retire with them. He went through hell in SF. And I know he had a lot of bad years here, so I hope I the usuals don't start to obsess about his play based on my post, but he has treated horribly by a large segment of Niner fans. Remember the drunk idiots booing him on Monday night when Singletary was coaching? Worse coach than tomsula
If I was him I would have some resentment towards the Niners. He got f**ked every year by the front office and coaches before Harbaugh. The fans treated him more unfairly than any player I can remember. Other dudes sucked or were controversial so it made sense, but I never understood the obsessive disdain for this guy. I never will

He was elite in 2017. He was a late bloomer in high school, college and the nfl. Should have never been the first pick. He was an MVP level player in 2017
I wish he never got concussed against the Rams. Damn. His play was sky rocketing

Watching that documentary I came close to tears a couple times. I hadn't seen the actual play he got injured on until last night. It was like Joe Theismann all over again 33 years later. I can't lie his wife is some friggin' hot MILF.
