Oh look, Saleh drops BOTH Ronald Blair and Dee Ford into pass coverage on third down, and it works like a charm for the 49ers. I'll make it a point to highlight zone dogs that work this year, since the handful that don't get such disproportionate attention: pic.twitter.com/K9uM2WQny6

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
It didn't work because Rudolph didn't see the wide open tight end that Ford was on lol

His burst is insane...I don't even care give him load management and throw him in on 3rd downs lol.
See QB hit QB, don't care about edge defending with him.

That's exactly what I was thinking. But I think by bringing the safety on a blitz from that side it made Mason zone in on the hot route to his left b/c Vance was wide open and that would've been a 1st down if he had looked to his right.

I think ShanaLynch got taken to the cleaners by Fat Andy, but Ford really has an impact on those 3rd and longs. But even if they overpaid for a limited 3rd down edge rusher, I will take the win every time.

It really depends on who the Chiefs get with our 2nd rounder which will probably be around #45-50 overall. You have to wait and see what kind of career and impact he has with the Chiefs.

Well, I'm projecting *what kind of player* that would be available in the 2nd round. But you are right, the final *real* evaluation would be when they pick using the 2nd rounder we gave them, and then wait for that 2nd rounder to develop (or not as the case may be in 2+ years). But that's too long a time for me to not judge *value* and so I"m looking at the 2nd rounders' that Kyle has had and picked, I think we could have used a 2nd rounder on an edge rusher next year - of course, that means we don't have Ford this year. Considering we might be a playoff team, Dee Ford will really be priceless in the playoffs -- **IF** we make the playoffs, **AND** if Ford remains relatively healthy given his bum knee.

You have to anyway that knee problem isn't going away. He's still super explosive. Keep him fresh and healthy not only for late this year but maybe he lasts 2 or 3 years at a level that will cause fits for opposing offenses.
I think, at minimum, he needs to at least practice lining up on the LOS correctly.

LOL I noticed this play and the Nick bosa in coverage plays while watching the highlights ... Like wtf is saleh doing, it worked but I think a better QB will make us pay for that because the players they were covering were definitely open....

I said that the moment I saw it during the game. Not even going by the line, they had a field shot of it right on the line and I think he was in the zone.

yeah, true, but the refs will call that against us 100% of the time in the playoffs and home games!
