You are underestimating the degree to which a gimmick QB held him back. But consider the following:

Cooper Kupp gained 43.3% of his yards after the catch. Deebo? He got 54.9% of his yards after the catch. He broke a tackle ever 5.9 receptions (second among WRs behind Brian Edwards). Kupp?One every 14.5 (22nd among WRs). Over 10% more production post catch than presumably the best WR in football, and breaks a tackle almost three times as frequently. You think Deebo is going to stop breaking tackles if he gets some deeper passes? I doubt it. The guy isn't just a gimmick. He's a beast. And remember, before we had to start using him as a running back, he was shattering records set by Jerry Rice...

We were 3-5 to start last season with both Deebo and Bosa playing every game. It wasn't until Tom Compton came in that we turned around the season. So if we're just going by W/L maybe we should have given Compton $25 million?

The biggest problem is him airing his discontentment with the contract situation publicly. There's no reason for him to do that. You're picking stuff to be mad about for no reason....you can't pick to not be upset over him never working with Jimmy and Kittle NOT being there, then expect to people to take you serious with Deebo not being there right now. That's being a hypocrite.

Did Deebo say he wants to be the highest paid non-QB? If so please show me. That was some random Dallas reporter saying what he thinks...he didn't quote Deebo and doesn't even follow this team. So we can't pay Bosa top money according to you too...he missed a FULL SEASON. s**t Kittle has missed more games then Deebo and he got paid, guess we shouldn't have paid him. Trent Williams missed all kinds of time throughout his career....Trade them now! We can find all their replacements super easily with a couple what if draft picks...once their good though, let's trade them again.

I totally agree with you.. he is one of a kind (hence my initial statement… I do love the guy)

I want him to be a 49er for sure… but I don't think I'd set the market with him. We use him like a running back, and running backs don't last long.

im not going to die on this hill or anything…. If we pay him the dollars he wants I'll support that. My fingers and toes will be crossed that he performs like he did last year, and that he stays healthy.

Funny, the bolded one, because there are more examples of trades like the one we made for Trey backfiring than working too, but everyone seems to think that was the right play.

We keep Deebo - in both regards: we should, and we will.

As of now, I see this whole thing as a big nothing-burger generated story in the off-season for clicks. Deebo will get paid, Bosa will get paid, Garoppolo will get traded (and his current presence on the roster has nothing to do with Deebo or Bosa's extensions)
