He was leading the league in yards at around 900 before we had to use him more as a RB. And that's with Jimmy G throwing him the ball.....
How much of that was borne out of necessity because of injuries in the backfield? Who says we even use him the same after Trey takes over?
:sigh: No, it isn't.
You are underestimating the degree to which a gimmick QB held him back. But consider the following:
Cooper Kupp gained 43.3% of his yards after the catch. Deebo? He got 54.9% of his yards after the catch. He broke a tackle ever 5.9 receptions (second among WRs behind Brian Edwards). Kupp? One every 14.5 (22nd among WRs). Over 10% more production post catch than presumably the best WR in football, and breaks a tackle almost three times as frequently. You think Deebo is going to stop breaking tackles if he gets some deeper passes? I doubt it. The guy isn't just a gimmick. He's a beast. And remember, before we had to start using him as a running back, he was shattering records set by Jerry Rice...
Deebo breaks Rice's seven-game 49ers record in win vs. Bears
