I think the FO was going more bang for buck with Buckner. Problem is because of reliability and consistency, I thought then and now that Buck > Ward + AA and they'd have an easier time replacing those two players than they would in replacing Buck. With that said, I understand the decision. I don't like it but I understand. Deebo's contract will be up under different circumstances. No reason to not start the negotiations at the end of the season. We don't need Deebo getting a full offseason + regular season with Trey as his QB from a financial perspective.

Admittedly Deebo is making me eat crow. He's looking like the offenses best player this season alongside Kittle & Trent, never thought of him as a "WR1" because he isn't the same archetype as TO or Rice

Not only our best WR but a big-time team leader, too.

+1 but there has to be some kind of mid season roster bonus or incentives tied to playing a complete season that protects the team if he's hurt.

I love that I got him in my fantasy leagues in the 90s. Some people are so damn stupid on player evaluations. Especially players that are coming off of injuries

He is very good this season, not sure he is dominating yet. I am sure Kittle still draw the vast majority of the double team.

270 of those yards are YAC also. I liked Whitner's post game comment regarding Samuel. He said CB's around the league are scared to tackle this guy in the open field. The heck with being the #1 on this team. How about #1 in the whole league?

Would not hesitate to give him $20m per year.

I think you can only extend a player's contract after his 3rd year in the league. So I don't think they could give him a new contract until the offseason.
