I think getting Deebo for a 5th on a one year deal when you're a contending team with a lot of cap space is a nice move. We'll see if he gets a new contract.

Definitely with how slim the wr market is, getting an offensive weapon that you're familiar with that fits your scheme as well to complement McLaurin for a 5th is a really good move.

McLaur is in the same situation as BA last year right now.. can they pay Terry and deebo ?

They had 70+ million in cap space before the trade I believe, so yes.

Isn't there any condition? Like couldn't it go up to a third round pick or something if he has some great stats or signs a new contract or something? A fifth rounder seems pretty cheap

I meant will they.. space wasn't our issue. But i guess it's a smart move since it's not the 49ers

sounds like they explored a lot of options, even almost taking a DT

Deebo has one year left on his deal. They aren't committing to two big money contracts at the position necessarily and their cap space is enormous. It doesn't compare to the 49ers situation last offseason.

Like i said, will they pay both.. TM now, deebo after. The cap space is irrelevant
I just realized that the pick the 49ers got from Washington is actually #148 because it is the Saints original pick. A little better than end of the 5th.

much better to add it to a move up package

Potentially, yes. I am in favor of the 49ers having a 12-13 man draft class and trading down from 11 to stack more picks if it makes sense at the time.

Any condition would mean it would have to be a pick in next year's draft, not this one.

He's on his last year of his contract and has been subpar the last 3 years. It would have been best to keep him and let him hit free agency next year but he requested a trade so may as well get something rather than just release him. Better that than deal with him sulking in the locker room when he was one of the main hype men

I liked Deebo's playing style, but it was bound to take a toll on his body, and you can't pay $25 million a year, or whatever it is he was getting for 800 yds and 4 TDs. Hope he's happier in Washington.
