i will say deebo is burned out from being on a championship caliber team. its not easy doing deep playoff runs all the time. no time to rest or recover or have long offseasons. maybe on a s**t team that exits early he can get be elite production again. so definitely not a team like the chiefs or eagles. weight loss takes time so maybe that's what he needs. if he was on this years chiefs team that just lost he'd be getting his share of the blame and criticism for being overweight and dogging routes in the big game .

I have a funny feeling he'll be a Steeler or Bronco soon.

Deebo will most likely get released instead of traded. I think i read that we save 5 million in cap space if we release him . It'll cost us 15 million in cap space if we trade him.

If we cut him we can designate him a post June 1st cut. We'll only save money this year but lose money next year.

If we trade him we lose it all this year.

Some of these contracts are like trying to defuse a time bomb. All kinds of booby traps.
Trying to trade him to the Chargers is a great idea. Might be only one coach in the league that would love him even more than Shanahan and that's Jim Harbaugh lol. He could just transition to a pretty solid RB. Deebo's actually been comparatively healthier than any of the backs they currently have. You know Harbaugh "me run football, me want Deebo."

"Samuel's contract is more or less a player's dream and a team's nightmare. The 49ers made the decision to use large bonuses in every year of the contract for much-needed cap relief each season. The 49ers have prorated about 92.5% of the first three years of Samuel's contract extension that was signed in 2022. This leaves the 49ers with $31.55 million in prorated charges to deal with in 2025 if Samuel is cut or traded, which is #3.7M more in cap space than the 49ers have spent on Samuel as an active player over the last three years. If the 49ers were to trade Samuel they would take all $31.55 million in cap charges in 2025 and would require some minor tweaking of his contract to avoid that number jumping by about another $3 million."

So basically they backloaded the f**k out of his deal, which was a terrible idea.

This is what I was talking about when I posted that it's not as easy as fans think to find cap space. Yes they can move money around but eventually it comes back to bite you if you aren't careful. I remember an interview with Carmen Policy who was the GM during Eddie Ds ownership. He admitted that he left the team in cap hell when he left. Hs words. Not mine.

not terrible at the time. These moves are done for players you see that could be here longer. Kittle, Trent and CMC have restructured also.. which is safe to do..

Deebo unfortunately took a wrong turn

I just meant in hindsight it's a terrible idea but of course that's 20/20. I'm sure the team thought it was a good contract because they didn't expect his production to just fall off a damn cliff 4-5 yrs into his career.

Are the 49ers calling his bluff?

"Go see who wants you and what they are willing to pay and get back to us."

i don't think it's a bluff, but i don't think we would just give him up for nothing and take a huge hit.

if the right deal comes a long, i think we take it
