JT O'Sullivan runs an excellent YouTube channel called QB School that you should check out. He does an episode on the 49ers/Chiefs Super Bowl and in it he shows Deebo dogging routes where he's not the primary guy. JT's comment at the time was something like, "This is the mother f'in Super Bowl why are you dogging routes." After seeing his Super Bowl analysis I was done with Deebo. I can accept that a receiver can be bottled up in a game but I can't accept a lake of effort on the biggest stage possible. It's a pattern Deebo did with astonishing regularity this season. I would LOVE to have 2021 Deebo, the one who worked hard, stayed in shape and played hard. 2024 Deebo I'm out.

this reflects on coach to me also. if JTO is seeing it, well everyone at SF is seeing it. players and coaches. not sure why it was allowed to go on.

Yeah honestly I don't know how Kyle allowed that to happen(may be a bit of the favoritism some folks have accused him of)

Deebo was obviously one of our best players but they must've seen the double standard with how he coached Deebo vs Aiyuk.

Wonder if Deebo is taking the boombox gig to his new team.

Boombox is a 9er thing not a Deebo thing

We'll find out.

The Boombox was from Nick Kray, Shanahan's buddy on staff. He went to the Texans with DeMeco and the Boombox thing stayed. Its not a Deebo thing.

Really, didn't know that. So, I was wrong about it being Deebo's creation.

I wish we knew what would be best from a cap perspective. It we are only getting a day 3 pick would it not be best just to release him after June 1st. We need the cap space and trading him would cost more than just looking at FA and then release Deboo.

Exactly...that's why he's not getting traded.
most likely he won't and just another desperation tactics to get more years/cash

I agree wth you guys... it just does not make sense to trade him. It would have to be for next years draft after June 1st. If not, just cut him.

This is why retructuring contracts to make room for someone that wants big money isn't always a good idea. You can end up in a situation like this where a player can't be traded without that big dead cap hit. Finding room under the cap to keep a player isn't as easy as many fans think it is.

I don't think they should have buckled to Trent's hold out last year. He's trending out 3-7 games a season the past couple and it didn't matter last season whether he was on the field or not because the defense sucked, ST sucked even worse and the offense was losing starters every 2-3 weeks.

Correct me if im wrong but my understanding of the pre and post June cut is if he's cut/traded before June 1st, we eat all of his remaining cap hit this year. If it's the post June 1st cut/trade, his cap hit is spread out over the next two years. So it's a matter of when do we want him off of our cap because we have to pay the total either way.

He can be cut as a post June 1st designation before June 1st, but can not be traded that way.
Also he is due a roster bonus March 22nd i believe, so he will likely be gone by then. Unless they can come to an agreement pushing it back somehow.

I wonder how it would work if the team trading for him could re-work his contract so it benefit both sides? or maybe the 9ers restructure his contract before he's traded? I think something is gonna be done because no way the 9ers pay him that bonus.
Do y'all think that players who hold out are generally not "team" players or is Deebo's situation different than someone like Bosa? Just tryin' to see something that the FO should know?

lol what? The two couldn't be any different and I don't understand how you'd honestly compare them.

Deebo runs lazy routes when he's not getting the ball, can't beat man coverage, can't stay in shape lately and talks too much(lately without backing up the talk)

CMC runs every route like he's getting the ball to win the SB. Busts his ass off to be in peak shape all year long. Major threat in the passing game and able to beat man coverage better than some slot WRs.

Now I do think Kyle shouldn't design his offense to revolve so much around CMC but if CMC is healthy you're a MUCH better team with him on the field and you're not limited vs any defensive look.

Peak shape? He overtrained himself into injury according to his dad.

He is awesome when healthy but that is rare.

The team has to be able to win without either.

That was speculation. There's no way to know why he developed tendinitis . Too much training is one possibility. What's the proper amount of training? Nobody knows.

I am just going by what his father said.

Tendinitis is an over-training injury, meaning you're training too hard or doing too much, and it turns into tendinitis," Ed said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. "If I would say that Christian has a weakness, it's that he sometimes has to protect himself from himself, in terms of training too much and doing too much."

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/how-49ers-star-christian-mccaffrey-got-injured-running-backs-dad-appears-to-reveal-the-cause/

Sorry Dr Ed but there are many reasons that tendinitis can pop up. I've had it and I don't train at all. Like I said there is no magic number of hours or reps that you need to put in to get in shape. I'm sure many players train just as long and hard as CMC.

I am gonna trust his pro bowler dad.

Pre June 1st release/trade also nets no cap savings.
I'll never have anything bad to say about Deebo's time here and appreciate what he's done for us but I hope they get him traded in the very near future.

Tired of the drama with him and his social media based BS. Like buddy you asked for the trade, the least you can do is not lower your value by being a baby.
i want people who want to be 49ers

This isn't a holdout, Deebo just doesn't want to be here.

Yes I know but what I am looking for is whether players who have held out in the past are symptomatic of a bigger issue that the FO should regard when aquiessing to huge amounts of $$$$ that end up being poured down the drain (from a team perspective).

Personally I think many fans loved the Deebo we saw the 2 seasons before any drama happened. He was an incredible player and looked happy here.

It feels like his exit meeting was an absolute ass chewing of epic proportions. Calling out Deebos blocking and run off effort. Calling out his crying for the ball when he gets spoon fed more than anyone that wasn't a RB. I'm sure he's gonna talk s**t on his pod after he's on another team which sucks cause that 2021 season was one of the most fun seasons I've ever had just being a fan watching him. But as it's been stated you can't have your captain half assing it and crying for more opportunities. I don't care about the kicker issue cause I still think Deebo was in the right in that situation cause f**k moody.
