With the extra manual labor, your primary role at your titled position diminishes a bit. But you are a team player and will do whatever you are asked to do. Than when its time to negotiate a new salary, they low ball you at your primary position because you did exactly what they asked of you even at the expense of your primary jobs performance. If this is the case, I would be pissed also if I were Deebo.

Great post, it's absolutely this, Deebo has done more for the team, who now want to pay him less.

To be fair to the team, they probably had a figure in mind that everyone would have been happy with, then the market changed. Going to be a tough negotiation, but it'll get done.

From the employers perspective the job we hired you for you did slightly above average. Hands not the greatest, route running mediocre drops. Let's be real Deebo was not an all pro his first two years as a receiver he had quite a few issues and still does. His main job a receiver is sometimes hard because he drops a ton of balls.

they move him to a job where he excels at and basically jump start his career and he still wants to be paid at a top level from a job they moved him from.

im just presenting their side but I'm with Deebo. Get your bag man. Should be paid more than Aj and less than mclauren a true no 1 receiver. If he wants more than Terry he has to find it elsewhere.

He had a solid rookie season. Folks for some reason seem to forget that. He had an injured riddled sophmore season. His third season, he was on pace to have the greatest season for a WR in 49er history before they increased his work load at RB.

Lets stop acting like Deebo is some slouch at receiver. Yes. He is not a natural pass catcher and has a habit of leading the ball into his body which leads to drops. I am willing to bet he will get that cleaned up. I can't see why he won't since he has cleaned up other areas of his game. He does excel at catching the ball in traffic though.

He has also cleaned up his route running a lot. Maybe you need to watch some film before making remarks about stuff you don't know. Also, on top of the route running, he has shown the nack for making himself a target after the initial play breaks down.

Nothing I saw last season tells me Deebo is going to regress. In fact, he took a huge leap last season at the WR position. I also imagine he is only going to get better with experience which makes him a player to be even more excited about. He was great last season and its crazy to think the guy still has room to grow.

Prior to being moved to the wideback role, deebo led the NFL in receiving yards with Jimmy G as his qb.

The 49ers lowered his value with the wideback move. They should compensate him in return.

You keep saying this and you're still wrong. Constantly saying he's not a good route-runner without proof of it doesn't make you right. He had almost 800 yards as a rookie WR with Jimmy (and 81 total targets) this team is constantly at the bottom of the league in passing attempts, yet he went for 1,400 receiving years and lead the leader in Y/R

You know who dropped a ton of balls last yr? Keenan Allen, chase and Jefferson.

Overall his route running isn't an issue at all. Go watch his senior bowl tape getting off the LOS. Ramsey has him as one of the top 5 WRs in the league. Being able to score every time you touch the ball is a pretty damn good skill set imo.

I have watched the film. He has shown significant improvement since his rookie season. Nothing wrong with that. If you're not getting better, you are getting worse.

For all of those years after TO & Bolden I thought we just had bad luck at the WR position.

Truth is we don't value the position and don't want to spend the $ there.

Bravo. Nice post. Plus imagine if he had a better qb than Jimmy G throwing to him. He would of shattered the all time yardage and possibly receptions records if had Rodgers Mahomes or even Stafford throwing to him. Avearage per catch way above Kupp he just needed more targets.

People forget with Jimmy G throwing to Deebo for 15 games he had 3 receiving tds.

with Trey throwing to him for almost a total of 3 games he had 3 receiving tds

Even if Deebo doesn't improve in any category as a wr (such as route running or drops) he's still a top 3-5 wr if not better. With a qb that targets him more or looks to him near the redzone he could easily be the best wr in the league
He's still here???

Yeah you could see separation and good movement during the Senior Bowl week as well.

Yea. Those routes look crisp. I don't think he has ever had a problem getting off the line. Some of the film breakdown that I was watching showed Deebo had a tendency to round off his routes like the deeper, in breaking routes and such which lead to him getting too much depth and throwing off the timing of the play. His cuts have certainly gotten more crisp and I believe he has a better understanding of depth and leverage now as well.

Like I said, its not a knock on Deebo. In fact, it is quite the opposite. No one comes into the league with nothing to improve on. Everyone is always learning and evolving their game in order to get better. I am not sure why your trying to debate me on this. The poster I was originally responding to had nothing but negative to say when it came to Deebo's abilities. Maybe try to set that one straight.

Dude, I'm not debating you....I'm just pointing out something that a lot of people say in here regarding his route-running and him not being good there (which simply isn't true) I'm not saying you said this. My original comment was suppose to have you and that other guys comment attached...not just yours. I'm just talking with you about it that's all.

Yes guys can get better, I think overall he has. All I'm saying is it was never really some negative thing like a couple posters keep pretending it was.

I'm pretty confident they can get something for Jimmy. Jimmy just has to be able to pass his physical and also show that his arm is 100%. I don't foresee Jimmy being on the roster come the start of the regular season.
