DEN would be a nice fit for Fangio.
With Fangio gone, I wonder if CHI tries to open up the offense more (instead of relying on the defense).

I think they'd go hard after whichever of Bowles or Pagano that doesn't wind up in Tampa.

Have defensive head coaches ever called defensive plays from the sideline before?
Reason I ask is, can Vic translate his knowledge to a DC to call the games?
I'm sure he'll be heavily involved in the game planning.

Mike Zimmer does it all the time.

Yup, quite a few. Dan Quinn did in the past and plans to do it next season for the Falcons.

Yup Mike Zimmer does it. Ron Rivera, Dan Quinn, and Marvin Lewis all did it for spurts this season.

Congrats
Denver reached agreement with Bears' DC Vic Fangio to become the Broncos' next head coach, sources tell me and @DanGrazianoESPN. It will be a four-year deal plus a team option for a fifth, per source.

Yup, well deserved. Who knows if he'll succeed, but he at least deserves a chance to try.
Sucks for the Bears. That's a HUGE blow to their team.

Big time. They shouldn't have trouble finding a solid replacement though. That's a dream job for a DC.

Vic Fangio now gets to run the Broncos' team and defense; Gary Kubiak gets to run the offense. Fangio and Kubiak now lead the way.

That's a pretty sweet coaching setup. Fangio will make that defense elite in a season or two with the pieces they've already got inhouse.

That is an excellent pairing. John Elway nailed it again
