I'm concerned about his durability now also.
It's been 4 years since he's played a full season.

He broke his leg in 2018
Only missed 2 games 2017
2016 played 11 before breaking his leg
2015 he played 16 games

Yes he played all games his first 6 years.
Now last 3 years he hasn't been able to play a full season.
So yes, I'm worried about his durability now.

I still would take him, but if he sits on IR I won't be surprised.

this make me thoughtful.
but, that does not mean he breaks something again.

We could still get 3 great years out of him.
Until he hears a no from Dallas, we won't be his #1 option. Maybe 2 or 3 since we run a Seattle D and we have Sherm and Saleh familiarity.

But this is where Sherman comes into play.

We need him to help us pull this signing. plus he can play seattle twice a year.

Getting Earl Thomas has to be one of the easiest elite FA pitches of all time.

- We can pay him whatever he wants
- He can play every day next to a friend of his
- He can play the Seahawks at least twice a year
- He can play in the exact same defense, no learning curve

Give this dude a blank check over a 100% guaranteed, 3 year deal.

Considering Tartt hasn't done s**t for us really, other than his one hand pick in last years opener.

He better give up that number.

Outside of the fact that he literally went up to Jason Garrett and said come get me. Also Seattle players said he used to watch cowboys games in the locker room. The only way we get him is if the cowboys don't want him. People really need to temper their expectations when it comes to earl. To many people on this board are assuming it's a done deal.

the cowboys FO has come out and said multiple times that they will not be players in free agency this yr. They simply have too many in-house contracts to work on.

So, unless Earl wants to play for next to nothing in Dallas I don't think he's in play there.

I know they have, but I'll believe it when I see it. I could see him taking a hometown discount/structuring the contract in a way to make it work. That's if he really wants to play there, which seems to be the case. Again, I'm not saying there's no chance, but fans need to stop clinging to one or two free agents acting like it's a sure thing.

Have you looked at who's a FA for them in the next two yrs??

Amari Cooper
Byron Jones
Jaylon Smith
Randy Gregory
Maliek Collins
Dak Prescott
La'el Collins
DeMarcus Lawrence
Zeke Elliott

all the guys in black are gonna get elite money for their positions. I mean if Earl wants to take a 1 yr $8 million dollar deal that might be realistic. I don't think he would do that.

Cowboys have a top 5 squad and need to keep as many of those young pieces as possible. a FS isn't gonna take that team over the top, they had a very good defense. They just need everyone to stay healthy.

I wouldn't be shocked if they just give extensions to a lot of those players this yr and next and add some small pieces in FA. They've drafted very very well the past couple yrs.

I would love Bryon Jones or Jaylon Smith!

Sure. But I expect Dallas will do what they do and give massive signing bonuses to these guys to drive down the cap hits.

But just go along getting your hopes up like you do every offseason.

Man I was such a big fan of Smith coming out of ND. I don't see anyway they move on from either of those guys. They're gonna have to start doing some extensions this yr to make it all work. That's why I think FA is taking a back sit in Dallas.

Just looking at the guys I bolded, you're looking at around $100 million committed (per yr) to all those guys

LBer-$12 million
CB-$15 million
RB-$13 million
WR-$16 million
QB- $25 million
Edge-$20 million
