I can see this guy retiring early.... Just a hunch. Seems soft. You can tell Deebo looks way hungrier! It's too bad becaus Petis can be really good of he had a little more heart.

Dudes got tons of heart! He loves cats, incredibly too much.

Did Pettis sleep with Shanahans wife in the offseason?

Mind-boggling what's going on right now

He's in the Shanahan doghouse. Expect him to get the Solomon Thomas treatment. Maybe 10 snaps on Sunday.

The Shanahan Doghouse is real. Joshua Garnett never got out of it. Cut. Let's hope Pettis doesn't go that same path.

Pettis was our best receiver last year, honestly. Garnett was never the best at anything except being hurt and never seeing the field. I think you guys are reading way too much into his playing time against Tampa.

1) He battled through an injury and Shanahan initially pointed to wanting to be careful with that.
2) With that injury, he also didn't practice as much, which can often impact PT.
3) Shanahan himself admitted he should've played more.

I look at the evidence and see no cause for concern yet. My guess is it was a combination of all the above factors, plus the desire to get Deebo worked into the game plan. I think Shanny had an idea that didn't go totally according to plan, and he admitted this as well, that he didn't manage or call this game particularly well.

I think Shanahan honestly regrets not playing Pettis more in that game. Why? Because Pettis likely would've helped the offense move the ball better against the coverages Tampa was using. They were playing right into Pettis' strength, while our other WRs weren't getting much separation.

Most of us would , but that's just not in his mantra. You could even see it in the open practices. He's too chill out there and I question his fire to be better. You see a lot of the others guys running 110% hard all the time. It could be this guy is just a softie.

I kinda disagree with Shanny regretting not playing more. If you listened to that interview it didn't come off as a sincere " man should've payed him more" as Papa, Lund and Krueger all pointed out you could totally read between the lines. Coach seemed a bit irritated with Pettis. Papa nailed it too: Shanny easily could've put him in there especially if he felt he saw something that would be of benefit.
This dude dogged it throughout the preseason. Was there really a significant injury that really held him back and put him here? Maybe. I think it's a case of getting outworked by hungrier teammates.
In the end I don't think coach regrets not playing him more. He didn't play for a valid reason.
JG talking about Deebo and Pettis at the end.

Translation: even after a full off season, it's (chemistry) "different" with him. Not there yet in terms of getting on the same page. Therefore, Kyle went with Deebo at X to start the year instead of Pettis. Simple concept. Go with the players JG has the most chemistry to start the season.

Good stuff NC. Tells me Pettis needs to get his ass out there with his QB. Spend the weekend at his house, Pracitce, practice, practice!!

Like he said, he's just "different." Stevie Johnson different. So yeah, they need to spend extra hours together to get on the same page. Kind of hard to do that in season though.

How does a guy only get two snaps though? That's crazy, how can that be an accident?
