He's hurt. Kyle said he was in a backrole today because he hasn't practiced or played much. He's gotta get healthy before they can move him up the depth chart.

It was good that he was in the game. He will definitely leave a mark in time. I'm not worried about Pettis, he's a winner.Originally posted by StOnEy333:Originally posted by hello49:Is it safe to say Pettis is in the doghouse.... or is it the cathouse? Hope they play this guy more next week.

"Dante (Pettis) should've been in for more (than 2 reps). That definitely starts with me," Shanahan said, saying he'll make sure that doesn't happen again.

Hopefully Pettis generously accepts Kyle's apology and we can move forward.

He didn't practice last week. He will get a lot more playing time unless Hurd comes back and takes over.

Don't worry Kitty. Kyle still loves you.
Shanahan said he knows that the answer at WR is in the building when asked if he was worried about the 49ers group of pass-catchers. He's "very confident in Dante and just wants to be patient with him after Pettis had a couple of setbacks during training camp"

I think the truth is that Dante is too soft. Kyle praised Deebo and Hurd for "playing like linebackers" in how they don't shy away from contact. I think that's throwing major shade on Pettis.

Deebo played like a linebacker when he fumbled away our sure FG to take the lead at the end of the first half.

Too bad Hurd and Deebo can't learn how to play like Wide Receivers.

Coaching can fix fumbles. But you can't teach intangibles like being a fierce player when the ball is in your hands. Apparently this is very important to Kyle otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up.
I think Kyle knows he made a mistake in Pettis, and drafting players like Deebo and Hurd is a testament to that.
I've been a huge fan of Pettis, but yesterday's game spoke volumes. You can believe in all the coachspeak, but the fact is Pettis suited up, that means he could play, and he was only in for 2 measly snaps!? lolol ok.

Yeah, but apparently he doesn't play linebacker.
