I won't put too much into just one game. Seemed like the 49ers treated the game more as practice for younger players. Also, Shanahan seemed to hand pick Pettis, Hurd, and Samuel, so I'm sure their roster spot is secure.

They were feeding James a lot while Pettis was in. James needs the reps now that Taylor is out.

He's a guy that you have to scheme to get open. He's not going to fight for the hall. He wants to kindly ask if he can have it. He's got no gravitas playing this game. Richie, Hurd, Samuel all want it more than he does

When we first drafted him, I thought he would be slated for being a more dynamic slot WR over Taylor and dynamic returner. With Taylor out...could we? Could we?

He looks replaceable and upgradable.
Those soccer style cuts and dekes will end up causing a Jimmy to throw picks as well.

I was incredibly excited to see Pettis take the next step this season, but I have to admit, I'm concerned based on some of the reports out of camp and last night's game. Let's hope he steps up.
