Right hand held times vary he's a 4.4 guy plently fast, DJax is faster.

That was 2016, I think 1 year and a half later he is a legit mid to late 4.3 guy. He boasted that he feels he could beat his former team mate Ross's 40 time. Got to like a guy with swag.

He was joking

Pettis is going to get bullied in the NFL, didnt have a single good performance against a quality opponent in 2017

Just because one scout has a player graded somewhere vs another doesn't mean much. These scouts are also looking for players to fit scheme also. I didn't even know this Pettis guy existed, but I like the pick alot. The more I watch his film, I think he can be a very productive WR. He is a natural catcher, has amazing body control, and has the ability to make crazy adjustments on the fly. Hw is fast, but even better then pure speed is his ability to shake coverage.

I'm not a scout. It's just what I see on tape. He will have more time to work out now with 49ers trainers, and focus 100% on his full time career as a football player. People forget these kids in college have to split their time with school as football, which takes away from development some. Now it's 100% go time and the learning curve is steep. We are going to see some if these 2nd year guys start to shine.

Lol mentions film and tape. You mean YouTube highlights

I know his amazing QB really elevated his play, total pin point accuracy from him #1 WR in this draft really crushed big time programs this yr as well.

OBJ crushed some top opponents as well his last yr in college.
You guys are betting on a bad horse, going to get a lot of posters around here exposed. Maddog has been analyzing the draft since I found this web forum over 18 years ago, IDK how long he was going before that. My point is the guy knows a thing or 2, and if he grades the trade a "F-" his words "couldn't give it a lower grade" that means something.

Meh a lot of projection there man. He's fast he's not 4.3 fast. He's got great feet, vision, hands and can run the whole route tree.

Like I keep saying he's Diggs type of WR not DJax.

Or we can take that hand time in the other direction and say he bulked up in the last year and conclude he's a legit 4.5 runner right now.

While choosing not to run even he doesn't pretend he's anywhere close to a 4.3 runner (he opted out of showing it but claims 4.37)

Point being numbers are fun when you just make em up.

He isn't bulked up at 188 and if you bulk up your upper body that doesn't slow you down. Legs may, yes. He is plenty fast-tape doesn't lie. Most players when they train for the combine or rerun at the pro day can easily shave off .1 seconds. Happens all the time. If you go back to the combine and to the pro day this hear you can see that and that is in only one month time. I really doubt he would fall to 4.5 (talking about Pettis alone). At worst 4.43. Plus who is to say in a private workout he didn't run 4.37 for the niners? If you think you would have heard about it or the news would. Nobody even heard about the niners were even interested in Mike for the ninth overall or that the Raiders were interested either in the OT.

I am glad he did not run at the combine/pr day-would have been out of touch for the niners. For him not opting run, turned out well. Lost money, but ended up in a pass offense. The rest is up to him.

All things are made up. Even a timed 40 when you think about it. How so, there is a difference with and without pads. Is he as fast on the field as off it? Speculating.

And MadDog will be the 1st person to tell you he's not always right.

I remember when he had Josh Doctson as his top WR and his 8th overall prospect. He also had Sterling Shepard as the 13th overall prospect (both over Michael Thomas).

Everyone talking about Anthony Miller but I'm not seeing the same separation skills or explosive route running that I see with Pettis.

Pettis is also a red zone threat with his ability to separate and go up and get the ball at its highest point.

I was skeptical myself with the pick in the beginning but I'm starting to understand it more. He's going to a "starter" in 3 wides which is our primary formation. Taylor comes into the slot on 4 wide.

I don't know about you guys but I'm trusting the guy who brought in Goodwin, Taylor, and Bourne while somehow making them into a formidable WR core. Pettis may look like a reach but something tells me that he's going to live up to his draft spot.

Maddog has gotten a bunch of prospects wrong before. Some that he hasn't liked have turned into good players. It happens to even the best of pro league scouts and he's not an actual scout in the NFL, so...

That all pretty much goes with out saying (obvious) I'd bet he's gotten a lot more right than wrong.

Hoov's post has nothing to do with Pettis, but is the best post on this page lmao

Who knows, until they get on the field. Bosworth, Mandrich-next big thing-stunk it up. Brady, Montana-HOF. Quality of opponent, again who knows, Haley, Rice ring a bell. Besides Kyle knows how to make use of them. Easy to get around press corners like Sherman. Its not like we have the same OC in the previous three regimes. His play will be limited while he learns the offense unless someone goes down.
